Truth comes to the saying "you get what you pay for". It is cheap for a couple nights stay and if you can tolerate sitting for over 2 hours in a seminar then I guess it's worth the money.
It's not what I was expecting but again reading some of the reviews I guess it really depended on where in the resort you stayed.
My husband, son and I thought we would use the $99 - 2 night stay coupon as a chance to get away, relax and use the pool. From the picture it looked like an amazing resort. Our first night after driving 3 hours to get there we were a little tired considering we had a busy day already. We checked in and was surprised to find that we were on the lower level of the main building. We've never gone to a hotel where you go downstairs. As we entered the hall downstairs it had an unpleasant smell and the ceilings were low, only as high as the door frames. We entered the room which was very aged. The room had a washroom and two double beds with a sliding door to the courtyard. Can't say I was impressed by that as I looked out at the place across thinking they had it much better than we did.
The beds were hard as rock and the pillows and sheets were well used. They really need to update them. Since we were tired we decided to relax on the bed. We couldn't believe how noisy the hotel was. Kids constantly running up and down the hall, the sound of other showers and toilets going off which sounding like it was right in your own room. We decided to check out the rest of the hotel. We walked upstairs to the next level and the smell was worse than downstairs, so I decided not to change the room. We checked out the pool area and it was utterly crazy with kids. Not a place to relax in so we decided not to swim that night. We went back to the room once again to relax and instead my huband and I didn't sleep the whole night. Between the noise all night from people running up and down the hall, to the kids jumping on the bed next door, to the talking next door, to the beds being so uncomfortable we decided that we weren't going to stay the next night. The hotel could not move up our seminar since they had it scheduled on the last day before check out so we decided to pay the extra for the room and head home. I was very surprised when I said to the staff that we were leaving early, not one of them was concerned about our stay. They really didn't seem to care about trying to make things right. They weren't rude but were very willing to just let you walk out the door. Customer Service is not there. I was disappointed because the pictures of the resort were so nice and it really made you feel when you were booking this package you were going to get a really good deal and you didn't. What you pay for is cheap and what you get is cheap as well as you have to sit through the pressure of the time share seminar. Do yourself a favor and pay the little extra and go somewhere nice without the hassle.

We stayed at the Cranberry Inn. We had a room with 2 double beds in their motel. They have finally renovated! We loved the new decor, new tiles, new lighting. Why did they not go with new flat screnn TVs too? A full hot breakfast was included in their reasonable rate.

My wife and I spent five days in Collingwood at Cranberry Resorts. I read a lot of negative reviews and found none of this to be the case. We had a nice one bedroom suite at the Club Cranberry. The only complaint that I had (joking with my wife) is that the glass ware was too small. There were plenty of things to do in the area. We went to cross country ski and have some time alone. The resort had a wonderful X-counrty track on site. If you were daring, the Georgian trail is located next to the property. We went to Blue Mountain to see the "Village". That was just OK. Saturday night we sent to the ice arena for skating.(the resort rented a night for guest to go for free). On Monday we went on a Tobogon trip. (that is a young persons sport...too much walking up and down the hills!!!)

All in all we had a great time. This is not a 5 star, but the accomodations were fine. We were never approached about attending any time share presentations

We stayed at the Cranberry Resort Jan.17, being there for a wedding.

Check-In :
The customer service was pleasant, the lobby was a nice atmosphere with complimentry chicken broth for those coming in from skiing all day. Check in was fairly smooth and easy going, we were given a map that showed where the Bear's Den hall was, where the recpetion was being held: down the road, turn at the lights...we asked if there was a shuttle servie, the woman answered, no I'm sorry there is NO shuttle service from the hotel to the hall. fair enough.

The Room:
at first glance he room was nice, a lttile over heated but nice. we ad one queen size bed, a couch and a nice tv. The room came equipped with a hole in the carpet, and fraying in places. The bathroom door had a corner misasing, the paint was peeling from the walls, and the shower matt had mold on it.
I have to say the toiletries were nice, they had a nice cranberry scent. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were awkward. 2 was too much pillow, 1 was not enough.

Lounge 26:
We had dinner as the wedding was a late ceremony, we wanted to go to memories but were told we needed a reservation, something that could have been mentioned on checkin or when we booked. The service was great until we had everything served to us, then we had no one clear the dishes and we had to approach the bar for our bill. No complaints with the food.

The Hall:
Was perfect for the occassion!! spacious, waterfront, the bathrooms clean, the drinks a little over priced but a pleasant experience. Upon ariving by taxi and $8.00 later we found out that yes indeed there was a shuttle. I later asked the front desk about this but the girl stated there was no way we were told no shuttle...oh well we wasted $8.00 believing the first girl.

Check Out:
It was going smoothly until my credit card was declined. Apparently when you check in they ask for your card and place a $250 security deposit on it which is held for one week in case you smoked in your room or had a pet. then they charge you for the over priced room in which they also over charged on gst and pst as they were the same price. After some discussion with the manager the security hold was lifted so they could charge the room.

We will never go back here, we have heard the condo's are great and the castle, but as far as the hotel is concerned, it was over priced and they tried to sqeeze as much money out of you as possible without providing anything.

We booked a one week stay from December 27 to January 3, 2009 through a time share exchange. The first unit we were booked into did not meet our expections (first floor unit with low ceilings and very small "ground level" windows. We were immediately shown a unit on the 3rd floor that was better than we expected. The unit was very large & had views of both Georgian Bay (from the balcony) and the ski runs of Blue Mountain (from the second bedroom). The Castle is a little over one year old and poorly constructed. There was a wind storm on our second day and as a result a 20 feet by 20 feet sheet of siding from the building blew away - leaving the plywood of the building exposed to the elements. The entire building was "moving" with the wind. Also, all of Collingwood lost power for a few hours (including the Castle). When the power came back on - we had no heat. Luckily, we did have an electric fireplace that kept us relatively warm (67 degrees F). When we called the front desk, we were told to turn on the air conditioning and set the thermostat to 50 deegrees F and the heat will come on. This method did not work (temperature dropped to 63F) and we did not have heat from December 28 in the afternoon until Janaury 1 at noon when maintenance showed up to fix it. We were given a small space heater on the afternoon of December 31 (temperatures were approximately -15 C!).
The fire alarm went off at 4:15 am on January 1st - we had to take our family and guests across the highway in a snowstorm with -20C temperatures and sit in the lobby for two hours. Never found out what the alarm was all about as there was no fire.
Location is good because you are 10 minutes to the east to downtown Collingwood and 10 minutes west to Blue Mountain ski hill.

This is a great place for families. We almost changed our minds when we read some of the awful reviews, but we are so glad we went. We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo in the castle. We had a most wonderful view of the bay. The suite is clean, spacious, relaxing, and fit our needs perfectly. The kids had a wonderful time playing in the snow and meeting other children from Mexico and South Korea. There are a lot of things to do in the community - lots of nature to explore, lots of shopping. There is this quaint shopping center called the Village. That's a must do for us women. Great restaurants in Collingswood. Very nice local people. We went tobagonning, snow shoeing, and of course we went on the bus tour to Niagra Falls. The bus tour was well worth the money. It was fun and educational for every one. My husband and I found the Georgia downs where we got in a little adult time (the slots). Also, we managed to get in an hour at the casino at Niagra. Our trip was wonderful. Nice resort staff. Very helpful. We didn't have to listen to any time share sales pitch, so we can't talk about that. btw--we are from Georgia, USA. Our boys are ages 7 and 17.

We stayed at the Cranberry Resort for one night. The room was nothing more than a very old and tired motel room (worn carpeting, peeling paint, lousy beds, noisy fan). We ate at Memories and this was good. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We attended their presentation the following morning and they were very pleasant with us, until we said we could not make such a decision without thinking about it for a few days and then their demeanors changed (cold).
