Fairy Bay Guest House

Reviewed July 22, 2012

Our family spent 5 blissful days at the Fairy Bay Guest House. Our children, 3, 7 and 9, had an absolutely wonderful time playing on the well-kept and (well-stocked!) lakefront beach while just as happily, mommy and daddy were able to relax in Muskoka chairs :)! John and Christine were unbelievably kind and welcoming and went out of their way everyday to ensure that we were having a restful and fun visit. We all looked forward to the delicious breakfasts and we couldn't wait to see what kinds of freshly baked goodies would be waiting for us at afternoon tea. We couldn't have been more pleased! Thank you John, Christine and of course, Tucker! We'll certainly be back next summer, if not sooner!

Room Tip: Ground level bedrooms are perfect for a family retreat.

This is an upscale operation on a stunning location on a quiet, large bay leading into 4 lakes. The views are spectacular. The amenities are more akin to an Inn than a B & B as canoes , kayaks, paddle boats, fishing equipment etc are all available to the guests. The shoreline is all sandy beach, unusual for the Muskokas. The rooms are immaculate, modern and spacious. The hosts are very friendly and a wealth of knowledge about the area for sightseeing. The breakfasts are fabulous, making you feel you are in a five star hotel.

While cottage hunting we stayed at the Fairy Bay Guest House for a couple of nights. We were thrilled to find such a great place after having been disappointed at other spots nearby. The new owners, John and Christine, bring lots of experience in hospitality and customer service. They were both kind and Christine cheerfully accommodated our unexpected early arrival. The property is lovely (great dock!) and the boats and fire pit at the shoreline make for an instant feeling of being on holiday. Our breakfast surpassed our expectations (John is quite the cook) and the availability of the kitchenette would be great for longer stays. I will miss the view from our room.

We spent two nights in early September at the Fairy Bay guest house. It has a great location - 40 minutes to Algonquin park, 10 minutes to arrowhead park, just outside Huntsville. Great spacious rooms, amazing outdoors - you go out, and everything is green and flowery, and you walk 15 meters to reach the edge of the lake, with a sandy beach. I just felt the luckiest guy having arrived there. The hosts Marc and Margaret were truely warm and nice and also very helpful about where to travel. Amazing delicious breakfast; and everything is just peaceful and quiet. We were there with our 1-year old, who had a great time at the beach, on the grass, with the many toys available there, and with the entire atmosphere. It's been two weeks, and my wife already considered going back there again. I don't remember staying at such a lovely place for a long time. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED!

We are Toronto family of three (two adults, one child 12 years old) and stayed at "Fairy Bay" for two nights in July 2011. We are also frequent travelers internationally and locally in Canada and have enough experience to compare multiple cottages, guest houses or other places to stay all year around. We are proud to admit that "Fairy Bay" is really distinctive for its excellent accommodation, convenient beach area, not crowded like many other similar places, fantastic location close to Huntsville, friendly and cooperative staff always willing to assist you with useful information, advice and a lot more. The weather was hot but our room was air conditioned (central air conditioning with individual room controls). Moreover, the room had wireless hi-speed internet to check e-mails or recent news online! No single fly or mosquito has been spotted outside for the whole stay - for us it was especially important as we all have an allergy to mosquito bites.
I have to mention a lot of things to do - complimentary pedal boats, kayaks, canoeing, fishing, barbeque and so on. The open areas on the beach are well balanced with sun shade; well groomed flower beds are everywhere and everybody can enjoy a lot of unique multicolour birds at the birdfeeder.
The breakfast was special for each morning and really tasty.
This place is really worth the money we paid for. All aspects of our stay were really great. Advising everybody to stay, you will be satisfied and will definitely come back again.

This beautiful guest house is literally on the shores of Fairy Bay. We had a fabulous relaxing week with friendly, helpful hosts who gave us great tips on what to do/ where to eat/best cakes shops!! Great location for visiting Algonquin Park and lots to do locally. There is a little kitchen where you can russle up a quick dinner or Marc will light the BBQ for you. Best bit is 8am fresh coffeee while standing on the shore watching the mist rise over the water then another wonderful breakfast with the open fire crackling away. Can't wait to go back...and we're from Scotland!!

Located in a small, quiet road off the main highway, Fairy Bay guesthouse is on a fantastic spot. Marc and Margaret are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful, without being in your face all the time. They were happy for us to do our laundry, we had access to a kitchenette with tea, coffee, cold drinks and crockery and cutlery. We were also offered the bbq's, which we took advantage of, as having two children, a restaurant can be a bit trying sometimes. The room (Cream) was very tastefully decorated, roomy and spotlessly clean. The beach was fab (and a bit of a rarity we discovered). We used the canoes and pedal boat. The children had fun with the toy trucks on the beach and inflatables. The breakfasts were excellent. We even took home Margaret's pancake recipe. We enjoyed our stay here so much, we returned for another night. This, in my opinion offers so much more than the Delta Resort across the water and probably for a fraction of the cost. I cannot recommend Fairy Bay Guesthouse highly enough.
