“Very good experience”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Chose the hotel originally because of the price. I would come back again because of the experience. I particularily was happy that we seniors get a discount. The room was very clean, pleasant, comfortable, well appointed, quiet and unlike many far more expensive hotels where I have stayed, the television got a very wide range of channels. The bathroom was spotless and plenty of towels. The staff was also terrific and extremely helpful. The complimentary breakfast was about the same as any other place which offer this except for one thing - the waffle maker! How tasty were they?! If I have occasion to return to Huntsville, I will certainly book into this hotel again.

We started looking for a place at around 11pm after having no luck searching for our rental cottage near Fawn Lake in the fast disappearing light. We were lucky that someone had cancelled a room about 30 minutes before us, otherwise the hotel was full.

The room was clean, and the hotel quiet. The room did not have a tea/ coffee maker but breakfast (included in the price) included the ability to make your own waffles (warm!).

Considering we just needed a place to lie down for the night with our toddlers, it was not a bad bargain.

We visited this hotel in July, 2012 and were very pleased with the politeness of the staff, the cleanliness of our room and their ability to cater to my special needs of a fragrance free room...We will return to this hotel.

We stayed one night at the Econolodge on our drive to Ottawa. We had room 202 and it was a nice surprise...lovely spacious modern refurbished room, king bed, table with 2 chairs, minifridge, internet, easy parking, etc. It was perfect for an overnight stay, and in the hot weather we appreciated the air conditioning. The hotel is on the main road, but it is pretty quiet overall. Entrance to the hotel isn't as nice as the room itself, and we thought the hotel could be improved with a little tidying up in the foyer. A basic breakfast is included...cereal, coffee, juice...it was perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. Huntsville is a picture perfect little town, and if we were staying longer, we would probably get a hotel a bit closer to the centre of town. But we were happy with the Econolodge - nice room for a very reasonable rate.

Room Tip: It's a quiet area overall so all the rooms would be pretty quiet. Refurbished rooms are lovely.

Gross... Rooms smell!. Loud guest, internet down and I found a beatle or beg bug (?) in my bed....at 12:30am. Goodluck sleeping tonight!. I want to leave now!. Very disappointed. I would expect this to be a 2 star type hotel!.

Never having stayed at an Econolodge I was pleasantly surprised overall....everything from checking in to the cleanliness and comfort of the room. The continental breakfast is very simple, the coffee needed some attention as it was quite bland...but again, everything was A-O-K. A pleasant surprise was the beach area just a five minute walk from the front door of the hotel. It's called Avery Beach and if you like to swim then it's a perfect little spot to cool off after a long day's drive. As well, once checked in you are within walking distance to the core 'downtown' area of Huntsville. Great eateries, cool shops, and lot's of window shopping. I would stay at the Econolodge without hesitation again. The owners are pleasant and hardworking individuals, it was a pleasure to have met them. Thanks for everything!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the building are quieter.

We chose this hotel because it was close to an event's location, and the reviews were mostly positive. We also chose the room with the king size bed and the jacuzzi tub since it was a weekend away for the two of us.

The service was very good, and the room was very clean - I really like how the bathroom was all white (it was extremely clean!). The bed was firm and comfortable, good TV reception, free wifi (good connection!). The hotel is also a short walk from several restaurants, and by short, I mean 2-5 minutes or less, depending on what you want. It's also not a very long walk into the centre of Huntsville.

There were a few problems with the room we had, although this was design, not the fault of management. The room we had faced away from the street, and faced the base of someone's backyard, which meant there was very little natural light. There were also very few lights, and only one bedside table and lamp - this was likely because of the jacuzzi tub, but it might be good to install a reading lamp on the wall above the bed. The tub probably also took up space that might have held additional storage space.

I can't speak to the breakfast included, since we went to a local place for breakfast most mornings.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back on the ground floor may be dark, no view.
