We access Arrowhead on a regular basis...the beaches are great. Having no motorized boats on the lake makes it very safe. The hiking trails are incredible. Big Bend and Stubb Falls are a sight to behold. The ice trails in the winter for skating are fantastic. The night skates are beautiful and fascinating. Snowshoeing is spectacular. There are activities for all to enjoy. We hope to rent a kayak or canoe there at some point and try that as we'll.

My friend and I went for a day visit to the Arrowhead Provincial Park. It was pouring rain but we came to Huntsville for our annual hiking trip so we got our rain gear on and headed to the park. It is just plain beautiful. We did 3 of their trails and changed our wet clothes 3 times but enjoyed every second of the experience. I got amazing pictures and made some lovely memories. Special thanks go out to Josh at the office/gift shop. Even though he thought we were two crazy ladies for wanting to hike on such a rainy day, he had great customer service, helped us find where we wanted to go, was very friendly and had a great sense of humour. I can't wait to go back again with my husband one day to show him around.

Our family spent 5 days at Arrowhead this summer and they were perfect!

The park is HUGE! It has a full range of outdoor / nature activities for the whole family. In addition, there are plenty of other families, so the kinds have new friends to play with.

I would have given the campgrounds a 5 star, but there are a couple of drawbacks. There are plenty of washroom facilities, but the outhouses that I used were very, very smelly. I was also disappointed that they did not have some lights for the little ones. Bathroom trips in the middle of the night are scary enough.

Also, there was poison ivy in a number of places, and while there were signs, I did not know going in that that was going to be the case. No incidents thankfully!

On the upside, there are little rapids, great hiking trails, plenty of water to swim in and lots of bike riding to be done.

I highly recommend the park.

This park is just as nice as Algonquin, with fewer people, We did a 10km hike that was most scenic, enjoyable and tranquil. The park staff were friendly and informative. All in all a fabulous experience.

We've stayed at numerous Ontario provincial parks in the summer over the years and Arrowhead rates in the top. I still rate Killbear at the top.

We stayed for 8 nights in Roe campground on site 408. The sites on this road are well treed with lots of privacy although our site was directly across from two flush toilets. We knew that when we reserved though.

The park offers a variety of hiking and biking trails. The ones we did including:

Arrowhead Lake Trail: a longer bike trail that goes around the lake. The trail is wide but rough/ rocky in parts that would not be suitable for toddler riders. Our group of boys aged 8-13 and fathers loved it. The mothers had mixed feelings.

Hardwood Lookout Trail: we biked this trail and it was arduous. At times you have to push uphill. The view mid-point offers some nice scenery. Not a trail meant for those who do not like adventure as it is a good workout. Would be a great one in the fall to hike.

Beaver Meadow Trail: we walked this trail and it was long but nice. Take some bug spray with you. Runs through a variety of different covers and terrain.

Mayflower Lake Trail: a gentle hike with rewarding wild raspberries in many spots.

We visted the Big Bend Lookout and Stubb Falls where the kids like exploring the latter. Also spent some time at the beach on Arrowhead Lake. Lots of sand with an area for pets .

The park is only 10 minutes out of Huntsville which all the amenities. Did a day trip to Dorset, Baysville, Bracebridge and Port Carling as well.

As we haven't had much luck with OP wood, we purchased some at the nearest campground "Lagoon something or other". It was really wet too so buyer beware.

The only complaint we had was that the comfort station wasn't cleaned in the morning during the hours posted and the showers didn't have any hooks for hanging clothes. Our group bought portable ones at Dollorama in Huntsville that worked well.

The park offers canoe and kayak rentals where we had a blast on the Little East river with. The water level was low near the main bridge and many would have to get out and walk their craft to deeper water.

Overall, a great park with lots to do and see.
