My girlfriend and I rented a cottage in May for our anniversary. It was a pretty far drive, but it turned out to be well worth it. The cottage was immaculate, and stocked with wood and newspaper. There was a heater going to warm up the cottage for us. The kitchen had everything we needed, minus the obvious things (condiments, food etc). The property was well maintained, and the cottage was right on the water. The best part for us, was that it was dog friendly. We will definitely be going back!

Thanks very much for taking the time to write your great review. We're glad found it immaculate, warmed up and well stocked with wood for the wood stove. We like people to feel welcome and start enjoying their experience here from the moment they arrive. We're glad your dog like it too. We look forward to having you back again soon.

My daughter and I recently stayed in the Birch cottage. The view was sensational to enjoy the waterfront that was only steps away through the wall to wall windows. You felt like you were outside even when you were in the cottage.
The simple cottage has all the essentials. The wood stove quickly heated the living room up so we never needed to turn the heat on. While the beds were quite hard, the bedding was cozy with lots of extra blankets and pillows available.
We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the leisure equipment of kayaks, canoes and paddle boat. The evenings were spent around the campfire while we gazed at the millions if stars we can't see when we are home with the city lights.
A fantastic place to share with your family!! Les was a gracious host making sure we had everything we needed to ensure our stay was comfortable and memorable. When I had a concern, Les promptly and efficiently made sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend staying at the resort. You will thoroughly enjoy stay.

We needed time out and a chance to reconnect with each other and find some peace and quiet in a cozy setting. We stayed in the Birch cottage and found it had the ambiance and beautiful view and private wilderness feeling we were looking for. Although the furniture is old fashioned and a bit worn, it was comfortable, warm and very clean. The kitchen is modern. You could really feel at home here.Firewood was ready for use inside and out. If you want a sterile modern cottage this is not for you, If you want to feel like you did as a child at a family cottage, this is exactly the right place. The crystal clear, rocky bottom Walker lake at your doorstep is loaded with rainbows, lakers and smallmouth bass. You could see them jumping in the evenings. All watercraft were there for our use and it would be great swimming since there are no weeds. We stayed 3 nights and had dinner at the Norseman which is a "foodies" delight. Compliments to the chef! Gourmet dishes absolutely spectaculary presented and a cheesecake that we had to order doubles of...(and I never eat desert!!!!) The best part of all was that it was soooo close to the cottage that you could have a bottle of wine with your meal and not worry about driving home. We are hoping for a return vacation later this fall and again with the snowmobiles. This is only a short drive back into Huntsville, so you can go shop and see the town, take in a movie or get supplies easily. It feels like it is in the middle of nowhere, but it is close to everything.by car

Room Tip: The Birch has 2 rooms with a bed in each that could take 2 couples comfortably, but if you had a lot...

We rented 4 cottages for our family. Cottages were clean, with bathrooms and kitchen and barbecues all operating in good order, Cottages were in close proximity which allowed for excellent family time while enjoying great views of the lake. There were 2 docks, kayaks, canoes, lifejackets all ready to be used by adults and kids in our family and that provided for great entertainment. Fishing from the docks and motor boat was was also rewarding. The lake was silent with nil to very limited noise, we enjoyed a lot of time watching the stars at night. A great place to stay.....

We returned to this place after a couple of years. Our experience was even better this time. We stayed at the Spruce. The rooms were clean and spacious. However, we spent most of the time near the lake. There are a handful of cottages here, hence you have almost private access to the lake and the kayaks/canoes. Kids loved it, and so did the adults. Cottages have Wifi as well as a barbecue. There is a fireplace for the evening campfire near the lake. Kawartha icecream outlet is a few minutes drive towards Huntsville.
If you have any special requests or challenges, please reach out to Les. He does his best to make you comfortable.
Needless to say, we will return here again...

Room Tip: Choose the larger cottages if they are available.

We have found our place near Algonquin! Walker Lake Resort is the perfect family getaway. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cottage. It was rustic but perfectly clean and well-equipped. The view was perfect. Best of all were the the dock and beach area. They have everything kids and adults need to enjoy the lake. Walker Lake is small and very calm, so even our 8-year old son could kayak and paddle board it on his own. The owners are friendly and make every effort to ensure your comfort!

Thanks very much for your wonderful review, we appreciate you taking the time to write it. we're glad you found the cottage perfectly clean and well-equipped. Our staff do their best to keep it that way. It's great that you and your kids found everything they needed to enjoy the lake. It's great that even your 8-year old son could kayak and paddle board it on his own. This is what memories are made of. Walker Lake is small, very calm, and there is a speed limit so there are no noisy jet skis or fast boats, making it a perfect lake for families and kids to enjoy and play in. We the owners love to meet our guests and we make every effort to ensure your comfort! We hope you'll come back one day to enjoy another fun family vacation.

We stayed for 4 nights in the Walker Resort. We were very happy we could find a location where we could book for 4 nights instead of a whole week, because we only had 4 nights to spend in this area near Alongquin Park. We also chose this resort because the cottages were located directly at a lake and just away from the Highway 60 - so a total quiet nature cottage experience. The choice for the location appeared to be excellent - also closely located to Huntsville (with shopping facilities, restaurants and a cinema) and the Deerhurst golf resort.
The experience in the cottage feels a bit like camping: the cottages appear to have been built in the seventies and their interior and exterior have not been changed much since. There was no microwave or dishwasher. The stove and fridge functioned well, but were also very old. Each cottage has very modern BBQ-equipment though and - to our pleasant surprise - free wifi. Many guests have children up to 12 years old, who had a lot of fun playing in the lake with i.a. the free canoes.
The owner is very dedicated to his guests.
We paid $791 for four nights, which all in all - despite the perfect location - is high from a value perspective.

Thanks very much for writing this review, we appreciate it. We're glad everything in the cottage functioned well and you were happy with the free wifi and the modern BBQ-equipment. We try very hard to keep the cottages clean, cozy and working well while maintaing the authentic Miuskoka cottage feel many people expect when they come up to cottage country. Some cottages already have microwaves but we take your point and will add them to the other cottages as well. Thanks also for your commetns that you found us, the owners very dedicated to the guests. That is our most important consideration. Our staff work hard to keepeverything clean and working well, so that we have more time to spend with our guests and make new friends.
