I was given a Deerhurst Gift Certificate for a stay at Deerhurst from my staff as a Christmas Gift. Now that my husband and I have stayed during the Comedy Fest Weekend Jan 31 - Feb 2 we will be sure to return. The server in the Eclipse Dining room was especially knowledgeable and made us feel so welcome! Getting a little history of Skyline made us feel that there was a connection with the staff.
The whole facility is completely professionally run!

I was there with a large group (office X-Mas party). It was overall a great place. The gym can use upgrading. The pool was great and I like that it's open until 10 pm. Wi-fi all over the place. The rooms were nice. I stayed in the main building on the 3rd floor. I do think though that large groups should have rooms closer to each other without fitting families in between us. The outdoor activities were great and free. They could use more skates. They should advertise or maybe put an ad in their local paper requesting people donate their skates. You know they will be appreciated here. It would also be amazing if they built a chalet down by the outdoor activity building. A chalet with a fireplace, washrooms, snack bar even alcohol. THAT WOULD BE AMAZING. People would be able to stay outdoors longer. If you have to go to the washroom, you probably won't go back outside. The ice rink could be a bit bigger. There is plenty of space for a chalet and larger ice rink.
We were up there for the Jim Belushi comedy night. That was amazing. The dinner buffet was great too. Complimentary hot chocolate, coffee, tea would be great at the front entrance area. Shout out to our Concierge, Nick. He was amazing. Very kind, helpful and a bubbly personality. You can't pas him without having a quick chat. He is also knowledgeable about the surrounding area.
SORRY to anyone who heard the laughter and music coming from any of our rooms those 2 nights..we were having a blast that's all.

Room Tip: the corner suite (302) are larger.

Thank you for your feedback. As we continue to grow, expand our offerings and make improvements at the resort we encourage our guests to provide feedback and suggestions to ensure that those visiting us enjoy a memorable experience.

Our New Winter Adventure Headquarters has been a popular, cozy & warm one stop spot for winter fun this year!!! Our guests are enjoying skating as well as all Cross Country Ski Trails, Snowshoe Trails which all start from this location. In addition, the headquarters offers a warm comfortable spot to rest, washroom and an outside Fire is lit during operational hours for ambiance and warmth.

We took the upgraded room for a weekend getaway package because all of the regular rooms in the main building were booked. The extra was to get us a suite with a king size bed and a view of the lake. What we received based on availability was two double beds (crowded) and a view of the parking lot. No added value in my opinion for the extra charge. To be fair, the rooms were clean, the resort staff friendly, the meals tasty, and the comedy show entertaining and the initial package before the added room cost was acceptable. Where I was unhappy was the cost of extras. A dog sled ride, horse and carriage ride, an hour at the spa, or snowmobile rental were so expensive that it would easily put the weekend cost into the range of a nice all inclusive week on an island. A drink at the bar was over the top too. Nice place but not at all cheap. Add all of the costs up before you book. Pricey!

Thank you for the review and your kind compliments regarding the friendly and helpful service our colleagues provided during your recent stay with us. Your comments will be shared with our team as the recognition is appreciated.

Your overall concern with the “added” costs for activities is noted. We have offered many options to our guests over the years from all inclusive to room only rates. The demand and preference has varied greatly the last few years with “no one” option being the most effective and or requested. Our current “Musoka Your Way” package which does extend a $100.00 spending credit to guests to use as they see fit at the resort is very popular. Though not all inclusive it may have been closer to what you would have expected or preferred.

Glad to read you enjoyed the Comedy Weekend featuring Jim Belushi. Our special events & concert series have been a great success the past few years and we are excited to announce that Chef Susur Lee Returns May 23-25, 2014 and Myles Goodwyn & April Wine returns April 25-27, 2014. All details are posted on our website and we hope you will return to enjoy future events with us.

We have just returned from a wonderful family weekend in a true Canadian Winter Wonderland. Our multi-generational family of seventeen and three quarters were spread between four large condos and we were extremely pleased with our lodgings. Each condo, (one bedroom, 2 two bedrooms, and a three bedroom) had its own special flavour and we enjoyed the variety. We especially appreciated the relaxing vibe that some vacationers might regard as "dated". To us, it meant we could relax with the grandkids and not fuss about decor. The condos were comfortable, cozy, spacious, well laid out and absolutely spotless. Our one disappointment was that the three bedroom condo had a wood burning fireplace but no wood. We enjoyed the lake rink for both evening and day time skates, the pool, snow shoeing, skating the ice trail at Arrowhead and the gorgeous scenery after a significant snowfall. Organizing a family get together is always a challenge and we received outstanding assistance in pulling this all together. It was a unanimous decision to make this an annual event. Get out there and enjoy a Canadian winter people!! Memory making! Thanks to the Deerhurst staff for an outstanding vacation.

Wonderful to read that you enjoyed your stay with us - Thank you for sharing your experience!

We agree - Winter is a beautiful time to visit and explore the great outdoors. There’s much to do during the winter months, including skiing and snowboarding, snow-tubing, dog sledding, skating, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

In addition to the abundance of outdoor activities available on site, we invite our guests to simply relax and enjoy the Shizen Spa and dinner followed by evening entertainment at the Decades Live Show.

We hope that Deerhurst Resort will be your resort of choice for many years to come.

We just spent a wonderful weekend at Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville, Ontario. We were able to sled to the resort, and have our snowmobiles locked up securely for the night. Being vegan has had its' challenges when it comes to a vacation destination. We packed up our own food and stayed in a one bedroom condo which had everything we needed to enjoy the weekend - including a whirlpool tub to soak in after the long ride. We were pleasantly surprised to find a washer and dryer in our suite, which helped when you can only pack so much on a snowmobile! We decided to see if the restaurants on-site provided vegan options, and we're pleasantly surprised that there was more than one option. The food was great!
If you happen to be going through Bracebridge on the way to Deerhurst, I highly recommend the Muskoka Natural Food Market, they have a vegetarian deli with many vegan options. They are located right beside the trail where the plaza is.
All in all, we have every intention of repeating our weekend getaway to enjoy the food and amenities that Deerhurst offers!

Room Tip: A one bedroom condo generally offers a full kitchen, laundry, etc. I highly recommend it!

Not overly impressed with this place!

We had a room in the main building and it was very … average. Dated furnishings and décor, no fridge, paper thin walls, old bathroom, and the shower drain was clogged so in 3 minutes we were ankle deep in water with someone else’s hair floating around. Gross.

My biggest problem was the way the room rate is handled. When we checked in the clerk told us $140 for the night – snowmobile rate, fine – and swiped our credit card. What she failed to tell us, and we didn’t know until we got the receipt at check out the next morning, was that the $140 didn't include tax and it did not include a $25 resort fee. Sorry but if the final price you give me when I’m swiping my credit card is $140, I assume that is a total price of $140. The actual total, $190 for the night for a room equal to one downtown Huntsville for less than half the price. Breakfast was not included (though we knew this), and we paid $8 at the lobby bar for two drip coffees in the morning. Really?

My suggestion to the resort is to tell the customer what exactly they will be charged, including tax, upon check-in and issue a receipt at the time of payment. Yes, the Deerhurst is known for being expensive, but that doesn’t mean customers don’t care to know what they will be charged ahead of time. If we had known it would be $190 we would have gone elsewhere. Sorry.

The hotel as a whole is very nice, but unfortunately our personal experience was just not very special.

Your comments are important to us. I sincerely apologize that you were not aware of the resort amenity fee. Our reservation & front desk agents are to communicate this fee to each guest and in addition it is clearly outlined on our website and in all guest confirmation letters.

The Resort fee has been in place at our resort for many years and is common within the resort industry in some form or another. The nightly resort fee includes year round benefits and several new seasonal services previously charged for. Including and not limited to High Speed Internet, Use of pools, towel service, fitness room, parking. In winter our guests now have unlimited use of our trail system, Cross Country Ski equipment (ski, pools and boots), Snowshoes, Ice –skates and more. For a comprehensive overview please visit our website.
