Escaped for the weekend to relax and enjoy the outdoors this past weekend. The room was well appointed and exactly what I was looking for. We had a balcony room overlooking the lake - excellent choice. Hotel staff were very accommodating and the amenities were what we expected. This is certainly a gem that should be considered if you are visiting Huntsville. We will certainly return! Thanks for a great weekend.

Room Tip: Rooms on the lake side provide an excellent view and offer a balcony to relax and enjoy the afternoo...

We arrived to do a training ride for the 70.3 Ironman Muskoka which was taking place in one month. We had our bikes with us. They put us in a basement room with no elevator access. Had to cart bags, bikes and luggage down the stairs. Dark room, tiniest bathroom we had ever seen - had to wedge between toilet and sink to shut the door (and we are small!), slippery bathtub floor, no water pressure and hardly any hot water at 6:30 pm, big ledge to trip on going into bathroom, cottage-quality mattress, old-fashioned small tv. Worst of all was the very unfriendly and unhelpful service we received. Stayed at Mont Tremblant for a the 70.3 Ironman in June and had an excellent experience. Too bad it was not the same here, the facility looks very nice - but I guess looks can be deceiving. SO glad we are staying at Deerhurst for the race.

Room Tip: Request NOT to be put in the BASEMENT!

In the Niagara area, hidden valley resort has a great reputation. My wife and I could only secure 1 summer weekend off at the same time. We decided to spend 1 night in Barrie and 1 night in Huntsville. We got a deal through wagjag for HVR and I thought great. I was wrong. We arrived at 3:45. Check in was supposed to be 4. We were told the room wasn't ready...It wasn't ready until nearly 4:30. We were given room 321. It sits right beside the door. We are not extremely picky when it comes to our hotel rooms as generally they're just a place to sleep. We understand that cleaning staff are sometimes rushed and small things can be missed when cleaning the room between guests. BUT, the cleaning staff missed a woman's shoe. We left it under the bed for the next guests. The outdoor pool was dirty but hey it's outdoors under trees and it was raining earlier so some tree droppings were expected. It was warmer than the indoor pool. We took advantage of the boats available to the guests and they were great. The location was also great for us. Close to Huntsville & 1/2 hr from Algonquin park.

So basically our problems were delayed access to our dirty room but other than that we had a great time. Time with the family is always great for us. A vacation is what you make of it. But I doubt we will ever stay here again. For the money we paid there are plenty of places to stay in the area.

This resort is a good location being close to Huntsville and only 35km from the west gate of Algonquin Park.

Well maintained beach and pool area. Indoor pool could use an update as it looks original.

Breakfast is a great deal. $13 for breakfast buffet that has a decent selection and children under 5 are free.

Rooms recently renovated and tastefully so. Rooms with water front view have a small balcony with 2 chairs.

Overall great value, nice hotel, good service even though they were short staffed to handle the long weekend capacity.

I stayed here, for a couple of nights, with my two teenage children and we had a very enjoyable, relaxing visit! This was our third time here and, although the renovations, that were due to take place since our last visit two years ago, obviously haven't happened, it is still a wonderful place to stay! We had a fabulous view from our Lakeside room and it was very reasonably priced! My kids loved the pools and the lake activities. The breakfast buffet had lots on offer and you can't beat the view from the restaurant! All in all, a great place to stay in beautiful Huntsville!

Room Tip: Second floor lakeside rooms are the best. There's no elevator, so the second floor is the most...

We had an excellent time at the resort. We lived in a nice room with a good furniture, bedding and balcony overlooking the lake and tree covered hills. The view is worth paying an extra for. Just across the balcony there was a beaver living. Our son absolutely loved it. Kayaks, canoes, and pedalos usage is included. Normally they allow visitors to use it for up to 45 minutes, but we stayed mid week when it wasn’t busy and we did not have any problems borrowing it over and over. We enjoyed paddling the lake which was quite busy as it offers access to 60 km of waterways. We even watched a float plane landing to drop passengers at one of the cottages across the lake. The resort is conveniently located near Hunsville and is in close proximity to Arrowhead, Algonquin and a number of smaller provincial parks and waterfalls. Staff was friendly and did a great job ensuring visitors are taken care of. Overall the resort exceeded my expectations.

Room Tip: Try getting a room with the lake view and closer to the lobby as lake view might partially blocked b...

A terrific resort in a very quiet and scenic corner of Muskoka. I can't say enough about the friendly staff and awesome food. They offer a wonderful (and affordable) buffet breakfast offering which you can enjoy on an outdoor piato with a view of Lake of Bays that is better than what you find at the much more expensive Deerhurst Resort. And where else in Muskoka can you stay in a resort that offers you the free use of a pool, canoes and kayaks, as well as a tennis court, in a lovely and quiet setting (did I mention that?), all for less than some of the Huntsville hotels located along busy highways? This was my second stay at Hidden Valley and I know I will return often. Okay, so I don't have the bragging rights of some people who spend two or three times as much at the more 'exclusive' resorts in this area, but I really don't need to brag - my family just had a great time! Keep up the good work, folks!
