We had a great weekend away with the girls. The 3 meals a day were fantastic and well worth the price. The cottage where we stayed was picteresque and the beds were comfortable and clean. It was a bit older and a bit rustic but well kept. The fireplace really added to the warmth of the cottage. It was a cottage with a hotel feel. There were seperate rooms (with locks) and ensuites which allowed us all to have our personal space but be in the same building.
The staff were both helpful and courteous and they couldn't do enough for us. The owner of the resort stopped to talk to us (not knowing he was the owner at first) and was very friendly and down to earth. One evening after dinner, the regular chauffeaur was busy with other guests, therefore the hotel manager chauffeured us to our cottage so that we didn't have to wait. They really went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of.

We will be returning.

My aunts/cousins/grandmother went to the Briars for a "girls getaway". Like the "guys fishingtrip", only we stayed in luxary. We stayed in the Rineen cottage which was more like individual rooms with common areas only we had access to. It was the perfect place for the getaway as it accomodated all of our needs (including the new born baby girl and my elderly-88 yr old grandmother).

The food was fabulous (and we are all cooks-which are the hardest to please) and the dining staff were very pleasant. I recommend taking the package with the food however, we did find ourselves planning our day around the meals. Because we took the package we felt obligated to eat....and we ate a lot.

The facility was very pretty and had so many personal touches, it didn't feel like a "hotel' resort. We took advantage of the pool and the yoga class which was great.

The only complaint I had was another couple who were upset about us having the baby with us. We chose this resort because it was a "family resort" so if you are on a "getaway trip" be prepared that there may be families there. I can tell you however, we were moved into a private dining room so that the baby would not bother the other couple and it worked out well all around. We had our own dining room, and the couple who decided on picking a family friendly resort for their adult getaway, got kid free dining. The staff were extremely accomodating and professional to make this happen .

Overall, this trip was a defenite "must do" and we have turned the trip into a annual event.

My friend and I were looking for a peaceful and relaxing place to stay for our first girlfriend's weekend away and we found all that and more at The Briars. Our cottage (The Birdie) was superb with a secluded deck overlooking the water and first rate accommodations. The meals were gourmet and our server for the weekend was wonderful. The grounds are gorgeous and the spa was impeccably clean and professional. The hotel provided numerous events to take part in including a lovely golf course, but we chose to spend the weekend catching up on some much needed rest, relaxation and laughter. This is truly a first rate facility and I spent weeks after raving to anyone who would listen about it! If you want to be wined, dined and pampered, this is the destination. I cannot wait to return again this summer!

A gteat place for a girls' weekend away. We stayed at the Birdie Cottage, which was well worth it! Beautiful view of the lake. Very relaxing. Very good service, everyone is warm and friendly. Food is fantastic and plentiful! Spa treatments were luxurious. We loved it so much we're coming back this year and are looking to make this our yearly getaway. A piece of paradise, and so close to Toronto.

We stayed 3 nights at the Briars in August 2009, and returned in December 2009 for 2 nights. We were very impressed with the well-maintained resort, and the Leacock Cottage, in which we resided for both visits. The food was fantastic as well. We were particularly impressed with the children's program and supervised dinners, which gave all of us the opportunity to do what we enjoyed separately, but then rejoin for the rest of the day. The children's program supervisors (Jackie, etc.) were terrific!

This was my first visit to The Briars and was pleasantly surprised. I traveled with a good friend who had stayed at the resort previously and gave it high recommendations. Well she was totally correct.

The accommodations were very clean and comfortable. The service from the front desk to the dining room were above and beyond my expectations.

While there we visited the spa for three glorious treatments, facial, pedicure and massage. The Spa is very clean and well organized. The Estheticians were experienced and well versed in product and service.

I will definitely book again.
