We were staying the weekend in Kitchener and wanted to avoid chain restaurants. Consulting TripAdvisor, we saw a lot of great reviews for 271 West. I'm happy to say that they are accurate. Zeljko runs the restaurant with his family and is a welcoming and hard-working host. He explained the menu with care and it's clear that he cares about providing his guests with a great experience. Of course, the food is also excellent. My wife and I both had steaks and they were perfectly prepared. The wine list is a bit limited, but prices are reasonable, and we paired our meals with a nice Ontario Cabernet Franc.
The storefront location downtown might be a bit uninspiring, but as soon as you enter the door, you know that you'll be taken care of. Great meal, great host. When we're in K-W again, we'll definitely return!
