Nice hotel and staff but the Barrister restaurant is a nightmare in efficiency. Over one hour to get bacon and eggs. Staff had lame explanation. Too bad ruined a nice stay. Probably won't stay here again next time. Frustrating

I've stayed at many hotels including non-chains and The Walper is a stand-out by any city's standards, from design to service to comfort. The staff were very helpful, professional, and friendly; the room was mammoth (and quiet), the design of the entire building was very pleasing.

Dear Pioneer07250981613,

Well thank you so much for the lovely review! We appreciate your comments (they mean the world to us) and love hearing from our guests!

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your overall stay with us, and appreciated all of our guestroom amenities! We love supporting our neighbors so most of the amenities in our guestrooms are from local businesses! Our in-room coffee is from Smile Tiger Coffee Roasters (just up the road), our hand soap is handcrafted by Buck Naked Soap Co. from Cambridge, Ontario and our shampoo and conditioner are from Skoah!

We're also happy to hear you enjoyed the history of our hotel :)

We hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon as well!

Our flight from Kitchener to Calgary got cancelled and our travel agency did not inform us. We were not in a good mood. The WestJet rep was looking for a hotel when the security personnel suggested the Walper. She searched it for us and we liked the hotel on the web and the price. When we arrived, we loved the interior and our room. It is a modern chic hotel inside a historical building. Hotel is clean and right in city center across for the Museum. Unfortunately, the thermostat did not work as it stayed at 26 degrees (see above comment for details). Finally Alysse came up to try to fix the problem but could not. She found us another room, made sure the room was comfortable, helped us moved our luggage to the new room and got us settled there. We were so grateful for her assistance. This sounds like "something a staff member should do" but Alysse did this with a genuine smile, care for our needs, did everything herself and following up with us. She made a "not so good" situation into a huge positive review for Walper. The price is very reasonable and the amenities (coffee, soap, hair products) are first class.

We're so sorry to hear about your cancelled flight -that's always stressful and never fun, but glad we were able to be there for you while you waited for your return home!

We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your time with us, and that Alysse was able to accommodate you throughout your stay! She's pretty wonderful isn't she! We will definitely make sure to pass this along to her!

We hope to host you again the next time you are in the Kitchener area!

Warmest regards,
