“Crowded breakfast area, room needs work”
Reviewed August 6, 2013

Only three small tables and small area for breakfast but in good weather, there were a few picnic tables in the field alongside the building, next to three very dirty barbecues. Yogurts are replenished 4 at a time, only one coffee urn that keeps running out. Staff are trying hard to please, notwithstanding deficiencies. Room was clean but it was an old TV, sink was stained and toilet bowl really needed to be replaced.

We arrived late (11pm) for our reservation and left early the next day for the Triathalon in Penetanguishine. Needed a place to lay our heads and this was great. The front desk staff at night was awesome. She arranged to have us park so she could see our vehicle so we didn't feel the need to unload the bike. The room was clean, the a/c worked perfect and the beds were comfortable. There was some wear in the bathroom sink but the shower pressure was good and the water hot. On arrival we inquired about the continental breakfast but were told it wouldn't be out by the time we left. She was apologetic and said if they had known they could have made arrangements. We were surprised when we went down to check out, everything was ready early. Not sure if it was done because of us but whatever the reason I was thankful.

I travelled to Midland, Ontario with a buddy for a weekend (12-14 Jul 13) motorcycle trip. The purpose was to simply ride the local roads, find some curvey ones and enjoy the scenery, hopefully with little traffic.

The weekend was the best weather for Central Ontario over most of the summer. It was 25-28 deg. C and clear as a bell. Humidity did begin to climb on the Sunday ride home to S.W. Ontario.

I had booked the Midland Comfort Inn on line and used my CHOICE HOTELS privilege card. Upon arrival, the check-in was quick & easy. Room #111 is on the north side of the complex facing Highway 12. Traffic noise was not a concern.

Our room was ready to go and was typical....clean, comfortable and everything in its place. Triple locks on the patio door was a bonus. We were able to park our motorcycles right outside the room. "Customer Relations" staff were efficient and friendly also. I had left my jacket draped on a chair and walked away. It was delivered to the room about 15 minutes later....without me having to call.

Breakfast is typical "continental". Cereal, waffles that you grill yourself, toast, hard boiled eggs, toast & yogurt, plenty of coffee and juices. About the only complaint would be the bright sun coming in through the windows....but it was great to see the sun, so NO COMPLAINT.

The desk staff gave us ideas on where to eat downtown and even called a cab for us. $7.00 anywhere in Midland. We tried the LIBRARY, which is downtown, close to the water. Very quiet (pardon the pun) and very well prepared and presented.

All in all, very good motel to hang your hat for a day or too; good food and great scenery in the area.

Room Tip: Price was $121.00 plus taxes/night (Fri & Sat.) The motel is east to get too, on King St & H...

We stayed two nights here. The first room we were given had an odor and we were given another room no problem. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel has a new owner who is working on needed upgrades and maintenance. They allow pets but we had a room on the second floor which is pet free. I did not see or hear any pets during our stay. No extra amenities in this hotel. They do have a breakfast buffet - mostly baked goods. Pricier than what I would expect for a Comfort Inn but in line with other area hotels. Would stay here again.

Spent 2 nights here, check in was very smooth, staff at front desk were very friendly. Room was a queen bed on 2nd floor with a view of hwy 12. Lots of parking spots. Room was very clean but I think it is time to replace the toilet. Room was spacious. Bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is what you would expect from a comfort inn. Internet access was very good. This place is fine for a solo traveler or couple not wanting amenities such as a gym or pool. If you are seeking that go across the street to the best western. The business centre is one in name only. If you want a place to sleep, clean room & basic breakfast this is for you.

Room Tip: Odd numbered rooms face hwy 12

We have stayed at this hotel once to twice a year for the past 10 years, something has changed because it has gone down dramatically. There is an overall smell in the hotel and sense that it is just not that well kept. I checked in and was given a boater rate of $82 for the night, I informed the desk clerk that I had a dog. The next morning I was told that there would be an additional $10 added on to my bill because I had a pet...after a discussion the charge was removed . Be aware they now charge extra for dogs which is fine but do it up front. For what you get look around.

I will try to avoid this hotel until they do some much needed cleaning and repairs.
