Agree totally with the multiple negative service reviews. We are from Toronto and have actually gone half a dozen times in the last couple of years due to high ratings, each time finding the food great but the service seriously deteriorating. The last time we invited guests, and were embarrassed because service was absolutely horrid with multiple mistakes made, the waitress, who spoke little english, arguing with us that we were wrong about what we ordered, even though she was the one who had a poor command of the language!! Ironic huh? One of our guests absolutely wanted to strangle her and the chef. The prices are a little steep considering the food quality which is average good. Note that the 'specials' have been the same for the last several years, and that many items on the menu are unavailable-- this they will tell you some half-hour to hour after you ordered it! We will surely never go back now, because this is just an exercise in masochism at this point. Either all positive reviews have 'gone to his head' with an inflation of chefly arrogance or the restaurant is on the point of bankruptcy -- neither outcome encouraging for the curious diner.
Incidentally, while paying the bill I took a good look at the kitchen in the back hidden by the customary short japanese curtains -- it's absolutely horrific! This is another reason I would not go back, esp. considering we have small children.
