The rooms in this hotel are average Best Western -- which is not so bad, there are worse. However, it is very pricy for a Best Western. The restaurant was good. No pool, but a very large whirlpool. Owen Sound has gotten very dull. The staff were friendly -- one loaned as an umbrella before we went out on a walk.

Been meaning to write this for a while. We actually stayed in this hotel twice, about the same time each year, in August, for a 3-day mini vacation with our sons. We wanted someplace a little less expensive than out by Lake Huron, but accessible to all that area. Best Western suited our requirements just fine.

Rooms are clean and well kept. The hotel staff were always helpful and polite. The hotel boasts a swimming pool, but it isn't something you'll do laps in! It's quite small, but it's cute if you have wee ones. Food was nothing to write home about, but since our booking came with breakfast, and they had a standard buffet; fruit, eggs, bacon, cereal, we made use of it. I wouldn't rely on this place for your dinner meal, however.

Free internet in the main lobby, was a helpful tool for checking local stuff.

The hotel itself is just slightly off the beaten path of Owen Sound. Having said that, the town is not so large that anything is far away, so at best it might take you 10 minutes to drive somewhere. However, it is not in the best location for walking into town, so you won't see much if you walk around the area, but it is quiet and near the arena, and right on the bay.

A decent place, clean, value for dollar, and Owen Sound is accessible to Collingwood, The Bruce Trail, about 30-60 minutes up to Tobermorey, or Lake Huron for a Lake Huron sunset...it certainly works. Must have...we did return the 2nd summer, and both would get identical reviews.

I stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights while attending an event at the hockey arena just across the road, which made it very convenient for that, although a 15 minute walk to downtown through a not-so-great neighbourhood meant it felt safer to drive.

The hotel is pretty standard inside, with rooms in the main building (where I stayed) and a new wing. My room was a little tired-looking (strange plastic-moulded bathroom units and shower gel in a giant dispenser bolted to the cubicle wall), but the bed was comfortable and the wifi worked, so I was happy enough.

One thing to note, though was that although some rooms (like mine on the 1st floor) are advertised as non-smoking, they may have only recently become so, and other guests won't necessarily comply with the new rules. The corridor my room was on was constantly a bit smelly. I mentioned this to reception, and they said that the room used to be a smoking room.

No complaints about breakfast.

In all, a handy place to stay for arena events in Owen Sound, but nothing special.

(but if you do stay there, get coffee at Ginger Press downtown, which is excellent)

The hotel had adequate facilities and is surrounded by a beautiful view of Bay...and is close to the arena where the Junior Hockey Team plays.

I attended the hotel with my hockey team of 9-year olds who were in the Silver Stick Qualifer tournament. I found that the FRONT staff were not well trained to deal with this age group and was somewhat rude and impatient towards the players and parents.

The front desk staff need to be re-trained on customer service.

I informed several staff that I will never return to this hotel, either alone or with my team because I did not appreciate the service received from the FRONT desk.

The dining room and cleaning staff were much more friendly.

This was a nice hotel, it was very clean. The beds were clean and comfortable. It was nice over looking the lake. The compilmentary breakfast was not good through. The muffins were dryed out!, and there wasn't enough fruit. They did offer hot breakfast that you could buy from there restaurant which was ok. My only other complaint would be that there was no pool, only a spa pool and jacuzzi tub.
I would return through.

I rate this place as average because it is kind of expensive, so I think that it is "average" for this price. They could offer more, for the price.

Stayed in the Thomson wing (erroneously called the Tower on their website), 4th floor. We had 2 rooms, one facing water, and the other facing the back. The one facing the water was a nicer, more spacious room - it has the fireplace. Both rooms had fridges. The fridges do not have freezers, but they are empty.
The front desk clerk said that all the units now have new beds, throughout the hotel, and they are in the process of refurbishing all the rooms in the old wing.
There was nothing wrong with our rooms, although the first one had a bad smell and we were able to get it changed quite easily.
Staff were neigher friendly nor unfriendly. Received some contradictory information from them.
The area is quiet.
The windows do open a little bit, to let in air circulation.
The "free" breakfast was not worth much. Kellog's cereals, melon chunks, oranges, apple, bananas, stale muffin, stale scone, fresh bagel, OJ, bad tea, didn't taste the coffee.
If you have more than two people in a room, there is a surcharge, which I don't think is justified, given the lousy breakfast and the expensive rates.
Nice setting for the hot tub/exercise area.
There is a nice trail where you can go for a long walk which is right outside the hotel.
This is not in the centre of town; you need a car..
Local people said it was the best hotel in town.
We had a very nice dinner at Nathaniel's, and a great breakfast at Friends on the second day - we didn't bother with the crappy hotel breakfast.
