Owner description: Enjoy a captain's-eye view of Georgian Bay's 30,000 Islands Biosphere Reserve aboard the 550-passenger Island Queen. We offer two and three-hour sightseeing cruises that bring passengers surprisingly up-close to the pristine beauty of Georgian Bay's remote island wilderness and the rustic charm of its grand summer cottages. Follow in the wake of early explorers as the captain steers the ship past granite shoals into narrow channels and shallow waterways exploring out-of-the-way places within the world's largest freshwater archipelago. The Island Queen is fully equipped with comfortable inside and outside seating, large viewing windows, outside observation decks, wheelchair accessible washrooms, a snack bar, a full commentary and heat for our fall colour cruises. Cruises depart daily from June 1 to mid-October each year from the town dock in Parry Sound, Ontario.

I am from Parry Sound been on the cruise about ten to fifteen times. Left Parry Sound area and most everytime I visit I go on the cruise. I never tire of the beauty of Georgian Bay and I am proud to grow up in one of the most majestic places on earth. The crew is always fantanstic.
Miss you Parry Sound

We were visiting Parry Sound in September and decided to take this 3 hour cruise. The boat had plenty of room and didn't have many people on board. The narative was recorded but that didn't bother us. It's a beautiful area and very pleased we took this cruise. Well worth it.

Dear Passenger,
Thanks so much for your review. You're right, the fall is a great time to take our cruise. We're not quite as busy as in the summer and the fall colours can be spectacular. Thanks for coming and we're glad you enjoyed the cruise!

We visited Parry Sound as part of a trip around Lake Huron after staying on Mackinac Island for several days. We found the cruise on Tripadvisor and decided to take it and were glad we did. We had a beautiful day weather wise and the cruise was pleasant, relaxing, but could have been a bit more informative. We found the recorded narrative to at times be a bit out of sync with where we actually were and found that it just caused us to mentally ask questions that weren't answered.

I would have given an excellent rating except for the narrative. I would suggest that the operator take the Soo Locks Boat Tour and use that as benchmark of how such cruises be narrated. It was done live and what made it so interesting was that many tidbits known to the narrator where included along with some friendly banter with the passengers. It was much more personal than a recorded narrative

Dear Passenger,
Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review of our cruise. You're right - the cruise really is a good way to get a feel for Parry Sound and Georgian Bay's 30,000 Islands Biosphere Reserve. Passengers often come off and tell us that they had no idea that the Parry Sound area was so beautiful. Thanks again.

After a number of years of wanting to make the trip to Parry Sound to specifically partake in the enjoyment of the Cruise on The Island Queen....very dissapointed!!!
We travelled approx two hours to meet friends whom also travelled to meet there. Just over $80.00 with tax for just our two tickets to board. After taking a number of other boat cruises in various areas including Lake Couchiching and Lake Nippising...had certain expectations of this cruise. Not that we are fussy people or hard to please, but at least looked forward to a relaxing afternoon which would have included possibly a glass of wine, or even a beer perhaps, as we sat back and enjoyed the scenery. :( :( :( Only to find out after we had purchased our tickets that this Boat is not licensed for Alcohol. We asked after our friends arrived and had then purchased their tickets about Wine etc on board. The albeit friendly lady at desk then stated that the cruise is not licensed, but provided a sketchy and hard to believe story as to why we could not enjoy a beverage of sorts during 3 HOUR Cruise! It was stated that due to being out so far and in deep waters it was not something they could provide. However we as well as our friends could not believe this story as we have all experienced a variety of cruises in a variety of water in Ontario and all have had that as an option for their riders. In addition....albeit that most are against smokers... there is no smoking allowed on any areas of this boat. I could get past that but upon further investigation once driving all the way back home after a dissapointing cruise come to read online that the Operator words it in a way that makes it seem as though it is Government Regulations that do not permit Alcohol on this boat. BULL!!! Same as for the smoking. BULL!! All other cruises that this party of five have partaken in allow smoking on the outer deck designated areas away from others that choose not to smoke or be exposed to it, as well as have Liquor Licenses allowing Legal Drinking Aged Adults to purchase if they choose. I can buy a glass of wine in a restaurant if I choose, but not on a three hour cruise that frankly was very SPARSE in their commentary on the surroundings or education of such. It would have been much nicer to have had a live person with sound system to narrate the surroundings, possibly answering any questions. The Food was minimal. NO PIZZA!, Although there is advertisement of Pizzaville Pizza??? Boring to say the least except for the Beautiful Scenery and Thankfully company to talk to while waiting to get back to land. AND.... Shame on this Organization for not offering a Seniors Discount...PITIFUL!!!

Dear passenger,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our cruise. I’m not sure where to begin but I’ll start with your disappointment in not being able to drink alcohol on board. We have been in business for over 40 years and have never sold alcohol on any of our ships, nor have we ever allowed passengers to bring their own alcohol on board. This is a management decision based only on our desire to keep our cruises family friendly. We will make a point of speaking to the staff member who helped you to make sure that she fully understands this policy.
As for your disappointment in not being able to smoke while on board, our current non-smoking policy is indeed heavily dictated by federal, provincial and municipal government regulations. The policy is a good one and ensures that our employees have a safe and healthy environment in which to work and it enables our non-smoking passengers to enjoy the cruise to its fullest without having to move away from smoking areas as the ship changes direction and the wind blows the smoke around.
We understand that you were disappointed in not being offered a seniors rate, however I would like to point out that our rates in general are very comparable and in many cases lower than other similar cruises offered throughout our region.
We do wish to apologize for not having pizza on board during your cruise. Pizzaville delivers fresh pizza to the ship just prior to departure and they have a very good record of not “missing the boat.” We apologize for this rare inconvenience.
Finally, we were sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our commentary. It is a new commentary and we have had many compliments on it. The ship is equipped with over 50 Bose speakers on the three decks but sometimes on a very windy day, passengers who sit on the outside decks can have some difficulty hearing everything that is said.
Once again, thank you for taking the time to review our cruise.

Huronia and the Georgian Bay were the first to make me appreciate the logo on our license plates "Ontario yours to discover"...I had not taken it very seriously before...
The tours are 2 and, respectively, 3 hrs long and start at 10 am and 1pm.
I took both Island Queen tours departing from Parry Sound and enjoyed them thoroughly. The boat does not look old or neglected; the three decks and washrooms are clean and there is a snack bar on board serving decent soup, sandwiches, and coffee. There is also a big electronic map on the main deck so passengers can monitor the boat's course. Both tours are narrated and offer spectacular views of this must see part of the Georgian Bay.
