$30 per person overnight and $10 for a hot breakfast with fruit, coffee and juice is an exceptional value considering you are only minutes from Algonquin Park. Gas, wood, ice, camping supplies, rental camping equipment and more are all available at the store. Very clean. A/C in the hallway. Even if you don't stay overnight with them, you can pay just $5 to use their shower. (A great option if you need one before driving home after a trip in Algonquin's interior.) Cell phone service is weak (with Bell), but increases to full reception five minutes up the road towards Pembroke and Petawawa.

My photography group used this as an overnight stay as it was inexpensive and close to the park gate. The store hours are 8-4 so if you do not book ahead you are out of luck if you do not make it prior to 4 pm. Booked rooms are left unlocked, otherwise unused rooms are locked. Most rooms can sleep 3. You need to bring a sleeping bag or other bedding. PIllows are provided but very basic - we took our own. 2 washrooms - 1 for women, 1 for men. The ladies had 2 toilets, 6 sinks and a shower. Well kept. Some rooms had a small table in them. For $30/person, you got what you paid for.

Room Tip: Ask for room with a table. Front of building may provide more of a breeze.

I called a few weeks before our planned vacation to reserve a canoe for 2 days.
The day we arrived at this store, I verified my canoe was reserved, butd we were told the park was closed, due to a tornado ! Indeed the lights in the store were also off.
So we left and found a hotel, returned the next day and picked up our canoe for that day.

We used the canoe for one night and returned it the next day to be given a bill for 79 $ !!
I asked why the price was so high and the woman said " you rented for 2 days" .
I explained to the same person I spoke to during the storm, that it seemed unfair to be charged a day of rental, when the park was closed. More so I didn't pick up a canoe that day...but was charged for it anyways.
The very same person who told me the park was closed, was telling me I should be paying for 2 days rental ! Absurd !
Her explanation was "we book by the calendar day" - I have no idea what that meant.

Her gracious offer was to give me a 10$ voucher for the next rental, if I should happen to return again. Shocked beyond belief, I refused this slap in the face.
Do yourself a favour and NEVER rent from this place.
