went to the Octagon for the first time April 20th 2013, grew up close by but never treated myself to the Octagon. While let me tell you it will not be my last visit there. 5 of us in our party - kept it simple kind of dinner - low maintenance - water / pop / caesar salad was to die for, made right in front of your table and awesome - I personally had the bone-in rib-eye and was cooked to perfection. Others had various steaks and one prime that was said to be 'top-drawer', yes, expensive but I hope to be back there soon for hopefully a very similar dining experience. Server was nice, professional, we were in and out so hopefully he had the opportunity to turn the table a couple more times that night. see you soon.....and thank you

The food is great! Awesome caesar salad and garlic bread. Great dinner choices and beautiful atmosphere. Gorgeous fancy setting. My only complaint is that they are a little stuck up and not friendly at all. But, the food is worth the snootiness.

This is a classic old school steak and seafood houes. Run by a Greek family for years, it has black tie waiters, caesar salads made at the table, and flaming desserts. Valet service, and dark corners. Expensive, but a rib steak will last you about four meals if you take it home....

We were in Toronto visiting family and had the pleaseure of dinning at the Octagon for the second time and it was nothing less than fantastic. Nothing special from the outside but inside is beautiul Art Deco at its best. It reminds me of the Bofinger Restaurant in Paris. Complete with Valet parking and Waiters dressed in beautiful suits. With many private room for groups of four and more. The complimentary aps tray of pickles, olives and pepers is a nice touch as well as the garlic toasts. We were four this evening and we tried the ceasar salade, clam chowder, onion soup and tomatoe salade and all were first rate. For main courses we chose Prime Rib,Veal tenderloin, Sole and Cornish Hen with veggies and garlic mashed patatoes. Desert was Creme brulee and Tartufo. The dinner was perfect. Very good wine available by the glass which is nice because only two of us drink. The only negative comment was that one of our waiters hovered over us in the beginning as the restaurant was not busy but later seems rushed and over whelmed.

Eating at the Octagon was kind of like going back in time. It is definitely an old-style steakhouse -- the only woman you see working in this restaurant was in the coat check. Deferential, polite, always-there service. The food was great. Massive steaks cooked perfectly, a deft hand with fish done in a traditional almondine fashion, onion soup and escargot again feeling like a menu from the sixties. But in a good way. However, very expensive.
