“Stay away”
Reviewed December 15, 2013 via mobile

I can't believe this place, from the moment we walked in the staff were giving us attitude, and the food was either bland or just plain wrong. I ordered a yam roll. It came full of mayo. Seriously?!? Since when does a sushi roll have mayo in it? The tofu had no taste. ( see spring rolls in Conostoga mall for decent tofu) and the side salad was iceberg lettuce with some commercial cream sesame dressing. I could go on and on. Maybe they're trying to be a fusion place but it doesn't work. Just stay away.

“Expensive, low quality food”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

My girlfriend and I have now finished making the rounds of the major AYCE sushi restaurants and are ready to review them (Actually I guess we've been to the Ye's in Waterloo but not the Ye's in Kitchener, so keep that in mind)!

So for the most part, the biggest difference between each restaurant (which were used as benchmarks) were the salmon sushi, chicken wings, spicy salmon rolls, value, and service.

Sushi 99 was tied with sushi stars for best service, where everyone was super friendly and talkative. O'yummy sushi was the worst; I felt like I somehow I reminded the waitress of an ex boyfriend or something based on the looks she game me (resentment mixed with a hint of curiosity). Ye's doesn't really have service as it is a buffet now.

The salmon sushi was very mediocre. If I were to rank the the AYCE restaurants, I'd say:
1) O'yummy sushi by a hair
2) Sushi99 and Sushi Stars
3) Spring Rolls
4) Ye's Buffet (last by a lot)

The chicken wings are pretty good here - super fried. Ok ranks:
1) Ye's Buffet (only good thing there!)
2) Sushi99
3) Spring Rolls and Sushi Stars tied

I haven't noticed too much of a difference value-wise between most of the restaurants other than Ye's. Ye's buffet was about 30% more expensive and the food was 100% worse so I'd say that was the only place where the value was pretty bad.

Anyway I hope they improve greatly in the next little while! Until then, probably best to avoid it.

“Forget it”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

The sushi is limited in selection and of poor quality. The fact that their USP is "all you can eat" speaks volumes of the quality. The "catch" behind " all you can eat" is that - if you have any taste or experience with good sushi - you can't eat very much of their offerings.

“Filthy, terrible quality, trick you for a double tip.”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. First you notice how filthy the place is. Once you sit down, you realize that the carpet is not black, but rather blue with a pattern which you can only see deep under the other tables once sitting down. Food quality was terrible. Say the maki was the width of my pinky and would have a hairline size piece of meat in it. The meat and veggies texture was stale likely sitting around for the whole day or a number of days in the fridge. This is surprising how considerably busy the place is at times. Oh, and last but not least, look for the ‘easter egg’ on your bill which they quickly flash in front of you and put away in one hand motion at the cash. That is because the gratuity is already on it.
