“Great place to stay”
Reviewed September 14, 2005

While vacationing to Niagara Falls I decided to stay at the Days Inn Welland. This hotel is located only 15 minutes from the falls and offers everything you would need to make your vacation great. They are currently undergoing renovations and I think this place will soon be a hot spot to visit to. From check-in to check-out the girls at the desk were wonderful and helped me out with absolutely everything I needed. It is true what they say about customer service...it really does go along way and these people understand this and take the extra step to proove they do. The hotel offers and indoor pool, whirlpool, games room and fitness room which my family and I enjoyed. If you are in the Niagara region, this hotel is quite central to where you want to be and for the right price. I have absolutely no problem in recommending this hotel for vacationers or travelling on business.

I have been coming to the Days Inn Welland for a long time now, and it just keeps getting better! The hotel is being renovated, and it looks great. As for the staff, I think they are awesome, they do everything to make your stay enjoyable. The restaurant has some really good food! The hotel offers a wide amount of amenities, I personally enjoyed the indoor swimming pool, however the fitness centre was also good. I would recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to have a good stay.

I have my own home and haven't been in the Ramada Hotel or any of them; however I take great offense to the statement from the writer from Peterborough, U.K.---"We stayed here one Saturday night during our vacation and would not recommend it. It's a good 20 minute drive away from Niagara and located in a small town that struggles to be worth even a trip to the local beer store. "
First, if the person looked on a map, they would've seen that Welland is not Niagara Falls--but a distance away so thats their own fault.
Second, to say that its a small town that is not worth visiting???---FAR FROM THE TRUTH. Sure we don't have Niagara's FALLS, but Welland is a city that is notorious for having lots of beautiful gardens---not only in city parks but I find many many residents are proud of their yards and take great care to have flower gardens and well kept homes, even in the lower priced housing areas...Welland is esp. beautiful in the spring and summer bcz of the abundant floral displays everywhere. Niagara St. is a gorgeous tree lined street with many old regal homes---
Welland has just every store or type of store that one would need or want. Its not too big of a city, yet not too small with 48,000 residents.
There are many wonderful restaurants in Welland. Blue Star Restaurant on King St/Ontario Rd. doesn't look like much from the outside but great food, reasonable prices and been there for about 50 yrs. Also I've heard JC's restaurant on King St. is exceptionally good but often need reservations. There are sooo many others, that I couldn't begin to mention---as well as many new ones that look very elegant in the just starting to be revitalized downtown.
We have every type of fast food restaurant except for Arby's (to my parents disappointment...) on Niagara Street and Tim Horton's doughnut shops on just about every corner.
The Welland Canal is beautiful also---how many cities have a waterway down the middle of their city? There is waterskiing going on there, rowing practice and regattas. On King St. across from the Libraray, along the canal is a waterfall/statue and lit up at night---worth seeing.
There is also Merritt Island--where many go hiking for peace and solitude and a great playground for kids.
Each fall in Sept. there is a Food Festival on Merritt Island that brings in thousands of people---city streets are full for blocks around and they have a shuttle service from Seaway Mall on Niagara St. to help with congestion.
Welland is FULL of history---right out to the small community of Cooks Mills, part of and east of Welland, past the East Main St. tunnel, where the Battle of 1812 was fought and Canada was won--and a memorial is there.
There is an autumn fair in mid-Sept. thats not just called the Welland Fair but the Niagara Regional Exhibition. Rides, exhibits, animals, etc.
In June there is the Rose Festival that lasts for about 2-3 weeks and has the Rose Parade; and in Jan. a Winter festival---though I can't think of the actual name of it off hand....
The people in Welland are friendly and helpful.
Recently we had a friend from Mass. and she commented on the friendliness.
Its also a great place to live for those who don't work here---its not far of a commute to a larger community and there are lots of job opportunities in the Niagara Pen. As well we have Niagara College and many international students - its a very multi cultural community these days.
Just my 2 cents from someone who has lived here for 45 years. Don't knock my city!!

We stayed here one Saturday night during our vacation and would not recommend it. It's a good 20 minute drive away from Niagara and located in a small town that struggles to be worth even a trip to the local beer store. Yes the rooms were clean and fairly nice but the staff certainly needed a lesson in customer service, they made no effort to smile or be friendly and even gave us a lecture about "running in the corridors, no noise after 11pm" etc. If you need a place to stay in Niagara there are a million nice-looking bed and breakfasts to chose from - just turn up and check in.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Ramada of Welland over New Years. Its about a 20 minute drive to the falls and all of the entertainment. The front desk clerk was very polite and helpful; however, the rooms wern't the best. They were clean, but very plain and there wasn't much to them. The pool was small and was overcrowded with little kids. There is plenty of parking and they have a night club, which wasn't open during our visit due to the holiday (I was kind of upset about that). All in all, you get what you pay for.. cheap price, so it's not awesome.
