“A quiet nature walk, solo or with family and friends.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

If you want to get out and have a quiet walk through the woods , this is the place. It is like a natural oasis in the midst of the hustling and bustling of towns around it.
I have walked the paths here for many years , first with my child, then as a teacher with many Elementary school children and lately with my grandchildren. The excitement as children identify fish , insects and plants in their natural habitat is so delightful to see. There are also lots of quiet areas if you are aiming to sit under a tree and meditate .
Take a picnic along , apply some sun screen and of course prepare for bug bites !

“Perfect hike for any day or week night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

The trails are well maintained and kept in a natural enough state you feel like you've really escaped after just an hour of exploring the trails. Peaceful, serene and only 10 min from downtown Whitby.

“Nice place for walking and biking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 14, 2013

Heber Down is in the north end of Whitby easily accessible year round. In the summer my wife and I stroll the numerous marked trails for a couple of hours, we have seen deer walking in the bushes and also hear nothing but silence. There is a creek that runs through the area and in the spring can see the salmon making a run upstream. Great place to take the kids and burn of some energy, in the lower area there are picnic areas for having a BBQ or a packed lunch or snack, dogs must be leashed. The upper area runs into the Durham Model Flying club most times you can go there and see people flying their model airplanes, gliders and helicopters .... If you go south on one of the trails you can enter into the old Cullen Gardens are and there are lots of trails there too. Small fee for parking in the lower area, but you can park on the street outside of the area and walk in, good excercise

“Quite place for relaxation and reflection”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

I love Heber Down because I can run there in 10 minutes (on a good day), 15 minutes on others. You wouldn't know that you are minutes away from suburban Whitby and Brooklin. It's so quiet here. There are picnic areas if you want to go for a picnic and paved walking paths.
