“Birds and Small Animals Abound”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We have been going to Lynde Shores regularly since our children where very little. During our many visits we have seen Squirrels, Chipmunks, Ducks, Seagulls, Red Wing Blackbird, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Wild Turkey's, Owls, Swans, Golden Finches. We always bring peanuts and if you are still and patient the chickadees and chipmunks will eat right out of your hand. I even have pictures of a Woodpecker eating from my daughters hand.

“Animal and Bird sightings at Lynde Shores Conservation Area”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

Lynde Shores Conservation Area is a great place to get close to mother nature. No sooner had we entered the grounds than a huge flock of eastern wild turkeys were found clogging the walkway of the Bird Feeding Trail. Over the course of four hours hiking the area we saw wild deer, various types of woodpeckers, and other animals. checkout our blog posting of pics and videos at: http://frametoframe.ca/photo-essay-lynde-shores-conservation-area

“Feed the chipmunks and chickadees”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Make sure you bring peanuts in the shell (unsalted) and black sunflower seeds.
If you have little ones (or even big ones LOL) they will really enjoy this outing.

“Feed the birds, right out of your hand!”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

Lynde Shores is a small and simple CA that focuses on protecting some bird habitat and wetlands in a growing suburban area. It is close by and convenient for Durham residents and offers a nice break. The highlight is the very friendly bird population that will take seeds from you directly. Put some seed in your palm, hold out your hand and stay still - you won't wait long! When our kids were little, they loved putting the feed on their hats.

The chickadees will eat out of you hands here, take some bird feed and have some fun. Great walk down to the lake, tons of wildlife and deer.
