“They will not last”

For Whitby, it is all you really have for a local bakery offering gluten free choices. First impressions are ok. But the products all taste the same and some leave an oily, odd aftertaste. The staff could use some pep and customer service training and ownership does not respond to inquiries unless you are personal friends of theirs. This combination is classic failure material. Too bad really because with some more experience and tact, they could have a really winner here.

“Not my cup of Tea”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2012

I have been wanting to try this place for a long time and finally dropped in the other day. The visual will leave your mouth watering with a lot of selection of yummy treats. HOWEVER, I only purchased two items after asking for suggestions from the young clerk. They were both gluten free. Admittedly, I've never tried gluten free items, so maybe they all taste this way, but they were disgusting. First bite is good for a second, with a quick chemical aftertaste. LIke a strong sweetner??
The young women working seemed less than enthused and could not answer simple questions like 'what is in the breakfast bar'. Just looking for general ingredients, not a recipe. Sorry, but I won't go back.
