“Excellent choice for a layover”
Reviewed April 28, 2009

We booked a room at the Best Western Dorval so we could get some sleep on a 10-hour layover between Cuba and Fredericton.

We arrived at Trudeau Airport in Montreal at midnight and called the hotel on the courtesy phone at the airport exit. We were told the (complimentary) shuttle (which operates 24-hours a day) had just left the hotel for the airport. We walked a hundred metres or so to the outdoor spot where the shuttle stops. It arrived about 10 minutes later.

The hotel is VERY close to the airport and the drive took 5-10 minutes. The check-in was quick and professional (even though it was now after midnight, and there were several groups on our flight who arrived simultaneously). The manager on duty was naturally bilingual (actually probably multi-lingual, although our groups spoke only English and French). The hotel offers AAA and CAA discounts, and was very affordable.

Of course at that hour of the night the restaurant wasn't open, but there are several restaurants and fast-food places in the area that deliver. Menus are in your room. There's also a complimentary continental breakfast.

The room was very nice - not luxurious, but we didn't need luxurious. The sink and mirror are external to the bathroom, which meant one person could use the vanity while another used the toilet or bathtub. (I think this is the reason some people who review this hotel comment on 'small bathroom'.) Comfy bed gave us several hours of sleep before we got up to get our next flight. The hotel does have a fitness center, a pool, and wireless internet, none of which we took advantage of. But they're there. When we checked out the next morning, the hotel shuttle was just about to leave, so we were able to head right to the airport.

Overall our experience of this hotel as a place to stop for a layover, when timelines can be tight, was excellent. The shuttle operates every 15 or 20 minutes, 24 hours a day, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. We highly recommend it and would use it again any time we have a layover at Trudeau Airport.

Stayed here for 3 nights, hubby was on business and i was tagging along. Hotel is right on the airport entrance. Hotel reception staff were lovely as was the night porter. The shuttle bus was useful taking us back to the airport and left on time. Deluxe room was a good size and very clean, batthroom was fine. The bed was huge and wonderfully comfortable. The fan heater was very noisy and went on and off all night, this was my only gripe. The free continental breakfast was plentiful with enough variety. We didn't eat dinner in the restaurant. The bus station is a 3-4 minute walk from the hotel and you can take the bus into Montreal for $2.75 CAD. You keep your ticket and hop on the metro train at the terminus with no extra cost and this takes you in munutes to the very heart of Montreal. Dorval train station is also very close to the hotel on foot but i think the trains may only run at peak times.

All in all a really good airport stopover hotel, i will definitely be back!

Stayed at the BW on the 10th.&on the 17th. of March before boarding plane to Mexico and on the return trip from same.We were first given room 113 and after turning the fan on I went to the front desk to let them know. They called the mtnce. guy and proceded to move us right away.Somehow the reception girl knew the response from the mtnce. guy. When I went to get my luggage out,the repairman said the noise was not that bad.Go figure.
(The night before departure we did not sleep at all.) Some of it might be attributed to being nourveous from going on vacation but a lot of it had to do with the room location. We had been moved to the 2nd. floor on the airport side so we could hear planes land and take off all night. Also, the noise from traffic could be heard very well.Had a 5:45 flight so we got up early. Shuttle was ready to take passenger to airport at 4:30am. Went very well(10 minute ride).
On the way back we were given a room on the opposite side from the airport on the first floor. Well it was a complete surprise, me and my wife both had what we figure could be one of the most profound sleep this year. We had a shot on tequilla before going to bed.No noise was heard until 9 am next morning. Overall I was satisfied with location and the complimentary breakfast .Fronf desk staff was young and pleasant to talk to.
They have a nice restaurant with a interesting menu on site but we changed our mind after meeting the staff .They judge us by the way we were dressed I think.(jeans)We felt it right away. Had a drink and moved out.(to bad for them, we usually tip well)Found a little Italian restaurant 2 minutes from hotel by car. Food there was excelent.

Stayed one night after flying in from London.

The hotel shuttle was great when it turned up - 20 mins in -27 was a bit cold!! We also used it the next day to go back to the airport to get the hire car. It seems to run the circuit every 20 mins but reception staff dont watch out for it so they dont know when it is due to arrive.

Room was large with 2 double bed - the funishing was dated but it was clean and comfortable.

That evening we ate in the hotel - it was fine for aiport hotel food. There is a shopping mall close by (which we didnt visit) but it closes at 9 pm.

The breakfast the next moning was included in our rate. It was good for a buffet breakfast

The staff at reception where friendly and very helpful

Overall for a hotel airport I would stay again

We had a layover in Montreal so we booked this hotel for the night. It was great for purposes like this, but not sure if I would spend more than one or two nights there. Shuttle takes forever from the airport, and no food is available at the hotel past 10 pm. Not even from a vending machine. It would be nice if they at least had bar food available, or a vending machine. We left the next morning before the breakfast started, so we didn't eat there at all. Rooms were nice, clean, comfortable. Virtually perfect accommodations for an airport hotel. Would be nice if they had food though.

After a long week travelling around the USA, a scheduling mix-up saw me arrive in Montreal a day early. In need of a solid sleep, there was no way I was spending my layover hanging around the airport.

I contacted the Travelodge but they were booked - I'm glad as it meant I discovered the Best Western.

- Free airport shuttle (24h)
- Quick check in/out
- Room and bathroom were spotless
- Bed was huge and comfortable
- Complimentary breakfast next morning was good size

I ended up extending my stay and spent nearly the entire 24 hours of my layover chilling in the room. Returned to the airport the following night relaxed and fully refreshed.

Great hotel for travellers - I'll be back.

Stayed one night after flying in from Amsterdam. Hotel shuttle arrived fairly quickly and transfer is very short.

Room was exactly as the photo. Very spacious, comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was minute with the handbasin in the bedroom, but spotless.

We ate in the restaurant for convenience and the food was pretty good. For an airport hotel it was reasonably priced.

Would stay again.
