“Sage Bistro - Canmore”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

Celebrating our wedding anniversary and Sage Bistro was recommended by staff at Information & Tourist place. Sage has a small menu and we almost left because there wasn't much to choose from. Another group did sit down and left after looking at the menus. Finally decided to stay and he ordered the halibut - at $29 and was quite disappointed. The plate looked very nice but was just a good size piece of fish on a bit of bean salad. No potato or salad to accompany it. He said the halibut was cooked perfectly but there was no taste. The whole plate was very bland and he was still hungry when finished. I had the Thai Curry which was $26. The flavor was definitely there and the lime yogurt was amazing. It was for sure overpriced as the serving was quite small. The service was very good but not a place I would go again. Sorry.

“Wonderful lunch in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed August 21, 2012

A friend and I arrived for a late lunch today and enjoyed the specials. The service was very good, the food very fresh and tasty and the view of the mountains is always spectacular. There was room on the patio or inside. We never felt rushed and thanks to Tanya for wonderful service, a welcome chat and a few giggles! We will definitely be back.

“Upstairs is Fun, Down Stairs Boring. Food is just "ok".”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Had Mussels in a cream sauce with didn't make any sense, couldn't taste the mussels only the cream. Brushetta was okay with sliced tomatoes but again pedestrian at best. Service was fine, the waitress was nice. Drinks were fine but not too diverse.
The upstairs is a nice looking lounge with a different menu than the down stairs which was boring at best.

“Above average taste but pricey for the amount”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

We rolled into Canmore about 7:00 pm and found a table on the patio. It was warm out but the occasional train and the mosquitoes kept us occupied. We ordered Cobb salad, rissotto and pulled pork pasta dishes. Average price was about $25 for an entree and the starters were about $8-10 each. If you sort Canmore restaurants by price, low to high, this one comes up first probably because of some $3 item. Family of five, $150 easy. I am guessing the kitchen is pretty small or understaffed because it took a long time for the food to come I would say about 45 minutes. The waitresses were really helpful though, always offering water or if we needed anything. Next time I would try something else.

“Great atmosphere”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

Great service, good food. There is a limited children's menu that is not on the menu, just ask. They serve locally made soda and have Innis and Gunn on the menu!
