“TOO MANY PROBLEMS”
Reviewed September 19, 2008

I would not recommend this hotel because they promise something they cannot deliver. I booked 1 King balcony condo for one week via phone with desk clerk. When we arrived, she said they did not have a King room for us. When I questioned why, she said they did not have a king room for the length of our stay. The hotel was not full, in fact it was quite empty. We ended up with a Queen bed condo on the side of the hotel with all the construction going on which was pretty dusty & noisy during the day. The Queen bed was very hard and uncomfortable. The balcony was very dusty, and the BBQ grill only had one burner that worked. Housekeeping only cleans the 4th day of a seven-day stay. We could not wait to get out of the hotel and get on our way to Jasper.

  • Liked — underground parking
  • Disliked — Bed uncomfortably hard; needed to be replaced.

Everyone we encountered at the hotel was polite, friendly, and very helpful. The rooms were surprisingly well appointed for the value and furnishings were very tasteful. This hotel exceeded our expectations and it was a pleasure to stay there. We will definitely be back again as the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. 5 star rooms !!!!

Originally booked for 4 nights but left early, only stayed as long as we did to avail ourselves of the washer dryer!!

The property backs onto the rail road, the freeway and has construction all around so a lie-in is not an option!

The apartment was good with a very well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedroom but we found the noise to be something that just wasn't an acceptable part of our vacation. The communal areas were in need of renovation.

Canmore itself is a great town (much nicer and less Disney-like than Banff) so we would return to Canmore but find different accomodation.

To clarify, the Falcon Crest Lodge does not back onto the Trans-Canada Freeway. The Lodge is located on the corner of Bow Valley Trail and Kananaskis Way. The Falcon Crest Lodge is not close to the railway tracks. However, the Canadian Pacific Railroad does pass through Canmore and the train can sometimes be heard in the distance. The public areas are in “like new” condition and the property is very well maintained as many other TripAdvisor members have stated. If noise from the adjacent construction became an issue, this could have been easily resolved by bringing this concern to our Guest Service Agent's attention. Our Agent could have offered a courtyard room, which are not affected by the adjacent construction and offer beautiful views of the Lady MacDonald and Grotto Mountains.
It is our goal to ensure that our guests experience modern, comfortable suites coupled with exceptional service and cleanliness while staying at the Falcon Crest Lodge.

The Falcon Crest Lodge was perfect for our first Rockies golf getaway. We booked thru Golf Canada's West and the experience was "par" none. We enjoyed a lovely view of the Three Sisters Mountains. The large shower and tub were put to great use. The lovely and friendly lady at the front desk I needed to contact for incidental items was just a joy to deal with. Having the laundry in our room made packing so much easier.

My only comments to improve our stay would be instructions to turn OFF the fan in the room. The cool nights needed no air and the fan made our eyes dry (typical of hotels I know and I COULD have asked before day 4 of 7). The bbq utensils could include a lifer not just a fork or tongs. (Damn burgers stick when you are a novice at it and so did the chicken come to think about it). And maybe a little more sugar in the basket for those who drink coffee with that nasty stuff :)

Falcon Crest is located in the best location for just about everything. The place is truly perfect and such a good value considering the cost of places in this area.

I give it a 10/10 and thats not something I do ofen.

Cheers

LadyV

We booked a 2-night stay (2 rooms) for ourselves and guests from Toronto. We did not realize at time of booking the adjacent site was under heavy construction. Our entire unit shook beginning at 7:15 am because of the heavy equipment. The much ballyhooed view of the mountains was completely obscured by this new development. While the staff was friendly, they were utterly unhelpful. We asked to be moved and were told they were holding rooms for others who had yet to check-in. We paid full price. The construction will be ongoing for some time. Buyer beware-you may not be getting what's advertised.

  • Liked — Very modern and well equipped
  • Disliked — The views featured in all advertising exist only for a few high up units. Too much surrounding construction is hemming in the property. Very noisy and dusty because of the construction.

The people there are extremely pleasant and helpful. Our room was fantastic. It had a fireplace, walk-in granite shower, full kitchen, balcony with bbqand secured under ground parking. It also has a fantastic view of "the 3 sisters" mountains.
The Falconcrest deserves a rating better than "excellent"
When I return to Canmore I will definately stay here again!!!

We arrived straight from our UK flight to the hotel and it was great. The room we had was a good size. Both hot tubs fab but the one with the view of the Rockies was extra fab! Would stay there again. The gas BBQ on the balcony was very useful too.
