“Okay unit, nice location”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

The lodges at Canmore is one of the now typical part-owner/part-rental complexes. The unit we had was a nice layout, however, the owners did not spend a lot on furnishing it. The living room furniture looked second hand and the accessories were not in the best of shape. Bed in master bedroom was good, spare room not so good.

The unit was hot despite the thermometer being turned off, having the windows open, and it only being about 18 celcuis outside. Very noisy portable air conditioner was in the unit, but made conversation impossible.

Location is nice for Canmore, with limited highway noise and train noise.

Room Tip: An okay choice if wanting to have a condo at a reasonable price; better choices but they cost more m...

Stayed for weekend while in town planning our wedding. We decided to stay at this place in order to 'try it out' as a suggestion for our wedding guests the upcoming summer! Our hotel room was nice and spacious but was poorly cleaned; hair in sink/tub and on floor, dishwasher had been run but was not empty and the kitchen counter was poorly wiped down. We then discovered that the room had not been properly stocked with toiletries - we retrieved them ourselves from front desk. Needless to say, these occurrences weren't even the kicker for us; I understand things happen/get missed from time to time!!
The next day (we got in late the first night) we discovered that we had no bath towels; my fiance' went to the front desk (as we did before for toiletries) and was told staff would bring them up - we then waited over 45 min; when calling the front desk to determine where our towels were, we were told that the staff was busy and they would be up 'when they had time' but we could pick them up at the front desk now if we wanted to. An hour long process and going full circle to get two towels!! We were frustrated.
Finally upon checking out of the hotel the front desk staff took our keys and wished us a safe trip home. As I was walking out of the front doors (about 10 ft away from the desk), the person at the desk asked "Oh, by the way, is there anything we can do to improve your stay?" - when suggesting better room prep and being more quick to act on missing items, she rolled her eyes and said "Uh thanks!". Service mistakes happen, but attitude is everything! Three strikes you're out - and our 150+ wedding guests will be seeking other accommodations!

Room Tip: Check into a/c. Pur room had none which surprised us!

We've always gone to the Lodges at Canmore to stay for two nights at a time or more. The 3rd and 4th return was not the best. The suite was barely cleaned, there were hairs on the pillow cases, bobby bins - specs of paper on the floor, poorly air conditioner, and books were scattered on the floor. We requested new pillow cases and extra towels - however, this took hours.
Will not return.

This is a well placed resort in Canmore close to the downtown part, however it is lacking in service. Check in was fine and the suite looked clean. On the fourth day we were supposed to get "refreshed" meaning a change of towels top up on coffee supplies and soap etc. This never happened. However they did give us a 10% discount on the bill. Our suite had air con in the main living room and if that had not been there it would have been unbearable. The beds were comfy and both had bedrooms had fans. The deck was filthy with grease from the BBQ and the outside furniture was covered in dust. Needless to say we did not use the BBQ or the deck. I would not stay here again

Room Tip: don't stay on the west side in summer

Traveled here in February of this year. Arrived 6-7 in the evening, did a couple laps to find the “check in desk” as it was hidden down a side street. Have a time share with RCI and cashed it in on two 2 – bedroom units for a week as there was to be 8 of us staying for skiing this week leading up to family day. The staff was friendly, got us checked in and headed to the rooms. The rooms had everything you needed for your stay there, fully stocked with all plates, utensils, etc. We brought a pile of groceries and loaded the fridges up and made 90% of our meals while we were there. The rooms furniture wasn’t new by any stretch, but lets be serious, unless dumping 1000$ a night, when do you find brand new furniture. In room washer and dryer, used, worked well, large TV, gas fireplace, 2 bathrooms, was perfect for us. This is all in each unit. There was a BBQ on the deck, which was used often, and fantastic to have. The pool was nice, well kept and empty while we were there, IT IS OUT DOORS FYI. As is the hot tub, which was the same, a touch on the small side, 8-10 people would have it full to the point of being uncomfortable. All in all I would be back without a doubt. If you have issues with slight carpet staining, less the new furniture and a lack of a personal butler head elsewhere. You’re in Canmore, you didn’t come to stay in a hotel.

Room Tip: No room service, no spa. Beds aren't new, may want a foam mattress topper.

This is the first time I was going to stay at this resort. Drove up late friday night and arrived for check in at 11:45 pm. After a long day, we were exhausted and just wanted to go to sleep. We checked into our room in the Cougar Lodge. Check in clerk was lovely. However, it all started when it took many tries to get the parkade door to open. When we arrived at our room, a 2 bedroom suite it smelled weird. Then in the bathroom, it had barely been cleaned. Hair on the baseboards. The beds both looked like they had been slept in and the linens did not smell fresh. It looked like they had not been changed. Both TVs in the bedrooms did not work. There were dishes still in the dishwasher and the kitchen counter had not been cleaned. The carpets were not vacuumed. The cleanliness was so poor that there is no way we would spend the night. This was not the quality of room we were used to at a Bellstar Resort. I will not return to the Lodges in Canmore. That night we moved to an alternate property which was excellent.

When I called for my reservation, the agent couldn't have been more accommodating. She asked all kinds of questions to ensure I got just exactly the condo I needed. I told her we were travelling for pleasure and celebrating an anniversary. When we checked in, we found out she had arranged an upgrade to a unit in the Grizzly complex -- unexpected but very much appreciated. The unit was very modern, clean and had everything we needed. The only bad thing I can say is in regard to other guests who feel they do not need to respect the "quiet time" times. In particular the group of guys who were at the complex on the weekend. I found out when we checked out that security and police had to be called because of them.
