“Disappointed in Housekeeping and Cleanliness”
Reviewed August 15, 2006

The hotel rooms are ok, although quite small. The place needs some definite maintenance- walls were scuffed, carpets were stained, etc. The biggest problem was cleanliness. The housekeeping staff was simply inadequate. The rooms are only given a very cursory cleaning every 3 days. There was dust and dead bugs on the windowsills and the place simply didn't look or feel clean. During our one-week stay we had to call the front desk on several occasions to ask them for fresh towels because the housekeeping staff either didn't show up or didn't give us fresh towels. I don't think that the linen in the beds was changed once during our stay. Unfortunately, I would not stay at Mystic Springs again.

We stayed at Mystic Springs Chalets in early July 2006 for 5 nights, and we really enjoyed it. The two bedroom, two level unit was perfect for 4 adults and 2 small kids. The units are quite new, modern, and clean. It was great to be able to return from day trips into the town of Banff (20 minutes away) and Lake Louise (50 minutes away) and enjoy a swim in the pool. Few hotels in Canmore/Banff area have an outdoor pool.

The price per night is good considering the size of the unit and the fact that hotels of similar quality are more expensive in Banff and Lake Louise, and rarely offer 2 bedrooms plus full kitchen. The price per night is lower if you stay 5 nights or more. This hotel property has its units layed out in a rectangle. Each unit has an entrance facing the outside perimeter as well as the inner courtyard, which contains a pool, hot pool, gazebo with laundry, barbecues and sitting areas. If possible, request a unit facing "Kananaskis Way" road for better views of the mountains (especially the "Three Sisters Mountain" which is the most recognizable mountain in Canmore).

Canmore is a nice town: lots of services including two grocery stores. Stores are not as expensive as Banff since Canmore has more permanent residents. There is construction in the area, but it did not bother us at all. Overall we loved Mystic Springs Chalets and we hope to be able to return in the future.

My family just returned from a week's vacation in Northwest Canada and spent two nights at the Canmore Mystic Springs Chalets. I gave it five stars for the value and the quality of the accomodations. The average price for a hotel room in the Banff area is very expensive, and this property is a hidden gem considering what you get for your money. For about $300/night Canadian, we had a two story chalet-style unit that was perfect for a family or group of 5-7 people. The lower level included a small living room area with a pull-out couch, DVD player, stereo, and a full kitchen with dining room area. The second floor housed two bedrooms (one with a king bed, one with two double beds) and two bathrooms. The units surrounded a courtyard with a nice swimming pool and hot tub. My only suggestions to the management if they are reading this is that the hot tub was not very hot and the air jets were very weak. This property is only two years old. Our unit also had a very slight animal odor, which we encountered in most of our stays in NW Canada. There are many people traveling with pets, and some must sneek them in even when not permitted.

We stayed at Mystic Springs for 2 nights in May with our 2 year old. The pool and hot tub were fantastic, infact it was hard to get the family away from there to enjoy the scenic drive in to Banff.
The chalet was spacious, very clean and for the money, great value.
I will definitely be returning to Mystic Springs in the future.

My wife and 3 children aged 12, 11 and 9 stayed at Mystic Springs for a 2 week skiing vacation in April. What a fantastic place it is, the chalets are modern and comfortable and have a high level of equipment. Cable TV in both bedrooms and the living room, DVD player and complimentary DVDs and XBox for the kids. The 2 bathrooms had built in hairdryers a selection of Aveda products and loads of fresh towels which were renewed every day. In addition to this the chalets were cleaned from top to bottom and all bed linen renewed every 3 days, they even cleaned our dirty dishes. The best bit about Mystic Springs, however, is the pool and hot tub, ours kids spent hours playing in the pool most evenings while my wife and I relaxed in the hot tub. The temperature was perfectly maintained and a constant supply of large towels were available by the poolside to keep you warm when you got out. This place is perfect for families or couples looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation. After 11.00pm you couldn't hear a thing, and together with the very comfortable beds you get a great nights sleep.

We just came back from Canada and we were a little disappointed with the Mystic Springs - the staff was friendly and the accomodations were decent but it looked so much more spacious and cleaner on the website. I quite frankly expected more. The price was awesome and the place was somewhat clean and conveniently located but it was not as large as the photos on the website. The stairs to the bedroom was very narrow - we kept our luggage downstairs and just took up what we needed. It's a good deal for the price but don't be mislead by the photos on the website. I would NOT say it is a 4.5 but more of a low 3. I'm not sure if we would stay here again - I think I would pay a little more and stay in Banff.

Stayed during the week of Thanksgiving to do some skiing at Sunshine. Not many choices for 2 bedroom condos in Banff; we certainly made the right choice by staying at the Mystic Springs in Canmore! Not a bad drive at all to the slopes. Mystic Springs looks and feels brand new; our 2 bedroon condo was immaculate. 2 adults, 2 teens and a small fry had plenty of room. King bed in the "master" bedroom was incredible, pillow top type bed. I can't remember the last time I slept so well. Property is close to TransCanada Hwy, but you would never know. No noise at all inside your condo. Hot pools were ok, not too hot but found out later in the week the spa was being worked on to correct the problem. If you are looking for a more affordable alternative to Banff, this is the place to be!! Canmore is a neat town all it's own. If you are a steak person, I highly recommend Vic's Steakhouse as well.
