We've stayed at this hotel every summer since 2007, but were disappointed for the first time around during a recent stay.

The hotel is under new management (Remai Zwack Ventures Inc.) and the service and amenities are slowly deteriorating. The door handle on our room was broken and wasn't fixed during our entire five-day stay, even after alerting hotel staff to the problem. The breakfast room was understaffed and items were missing. The fitness room is old with outdated equipment and very stuffy due to poor ventilation. There used to be a water cooler for those working out, but that has been replaced with new "no food or drink" signs. The steam room was out of order the last few days of our trip and the men's change room near the pool didn't have soap or shampoo in the shower area. The biggest complaint comes with the wireless Internet. Best Western used to use SpeedLinks as their provider, but have switched to someone else. The Internet was slower than dial-up speeds and sometimes wouldn't connect at all. Front desk staff were clueless on a fix and the toll-free number they directed us to for technical support made it sound like it was a hardware issue on our end, not theirs. We tried multiple wireless devices and had the same misfortune. The games room downstairs is very hot and doesn't help if you work up a sweat playing a round of pingpong.

The only plus I can think of was the waterslide and recently upgraded pool lights and furniture. The hotel is also very clean and the beds are comfortable.

Hopefully our stay next year (should we choose to give this place another shot) will be better.

Last minute decision to overnight in Canmore. We were driving around looking for a place to stay and the kids saw the pool slide and wanted to stay there. There was a 'No Vacancy' sign lit up but we called just in case, and they still had rooms available. So call just to be sure if you see the sign up.
Air conditioning wasn't working in our room, which they told us about before we checked in and gave us a discount on our room. They also provided a fan which was nice.
There was a wedding reception happening in the lower level and they apologized for the loud music, but it didn't bother me or my family.
The toilet flooded in our room and as soon as I called the front desk, they said they would send someone up right away. 30 seconds later a maintenance man showed up and took care of the problem, talk about FAST SERVICE.
The only annoying thing was due to having to open our windows from no air conditioning, there were some people smoking right under our balcony and it stunk up our room, which irritated my 2 month old. Maybe extend the smoking radius further from the hotel?
Besides that, staff were really friendly, hotel and room were really nice and clean, breakfast was good. Happy with our stay. Thanks Best Western!

We were in Canmore during the recent floods and mudslides. We were not able to get out as the roads were blocked. The staff were excellent and understanding and they allowed all of us to stay there. They made extra effort to make us feel comfortable. When the water was on a "boil order" they provided bottled water. There were men on the cleaning staff which was unusual but good as they also seemed to help with maintenance issues. We were staying in a pet friendly room and it needed a deeper vacuum and dusting and it was done promptly and very well. There were 2 busloads of seniors and they were open to talking to people and keeping everyone updated regarding the blocked roads. Due to flooded restaurants and lack of food and travellers who had not planned to be there so long, they extended the breakfast beyond the usual time. They demonstrated compassion when a couple of ladies who were stranded in the town were allowed to come and use the pool and rest while they arranged they waited to get out, The front desk was very approachable and extremely patient. The hotel is located at one of the higher areas in the town so was not flooded. We would go back there.

Room Tip: Rooms across from the servery were a bit more noisy in the mornings if you are a light sleeper.

this hotel had a/c, which we didn't find in a Banff hotel of similar cost, and we appreciated that; wireless internet was good; staff was friendly; free buffet breakfast was appreciated; walking distance to family restaurant and Wendy's, easy on/off from interstate; only about 15 minute drive to Banff area, and a good option to keep you in the mountains prior to flying home through Calgary because the drive to the airport from Canmore is relatively short, less than an hour and a half (although finding a gas station to fill up close to the airport is a challenge). The hotel did attract large groups with many people staying per room (many rooms have 2 queen beds) so we experienced noisy neighbors. Also, one side of hotel is on interstate side.

Room Tip: Ask for room on side not facing interstate

Overall experience was okay. However, we had a disgusting incident with stained sheets. They looked like blood stains. That was disgusting!! Staff didn't seem sympathetic to the complaint. Breakfast room was understaffed. There are always items missing. One of the computers for guest use in the lobby was broken. Fitness room is poorly ventilated and equipment was old and poorly maintained.

We only spent one night in Canmore, but could not have picked a better place to stay. The hotel is clean and updated, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. One negative is the location of the hotel. It is quite a walk to get to the city center, but with a car it's only a few minutes.

Very nice Best Western, all the rooms had a fireplace. When we first checked in the fireplace did not work and they upgraded us to a room with a balcony. Very clean and friendly staff. They even had some healthy items for breakfast.
