“Pleasant stop in Canmore”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

Spent one night here on our way to Alaska. Rooms were clean and staff seemed pleasant. Breakfast was quite good - lots of variety and some good healthy choices, in addition to the usual pastries and eggs. We had no problem with the oft-mentioned train noise - didn't hear any at all!
Only a few negatives - the parking spaces were very limited, thus we ended up dragging our things a long way. Plus the spaces were extremely narrow, but fortunately the car next to our was polite and we suffered no door "dings"! Also, they would not accept US currency - the first place in Canada that would not.

We’re pleased you found our breakfast to your liking and that the trains did not disrupt your stay. We have already rectified the issue of U.S. exchange when guests need change to use our facilities. It is in both our interests that we provide this service. We extend our apologies further about the width of our parking spaces; the sizes of parking spaces are governed by the Town of Canmore Land Use Bylaws.
Sincerely

Rooms were just OK, mold in the corners of the tub, parking spaces were entirely too small, very little space to unload or pack the car, and the front desk would not exchange US dollars for Canadian coin to do laundry. Trains are right close to the rear of the hotel, so get used to rumbling and noise through the night.

Booked this owing to good reviews on this site, but can't reaqlly understaqnd why. Breakfast was very good, though. That gets 5 stars!

Room Tip: Don't sleep on the railroad side.

We apologize for the unsightly mold found in your bathroom and a full sweep of the hotel has already begun looking for any that might have been missed. It is in both our interests that we happily exchange U.S. currency for Canadian coins so that you may make use of your facilities. We apologize as well for the sizes of the parking spaces. Their widths are determined by the Town of Canmore Land Use Bylaws.
As always at reservation time the options of train or ride side are offered, during your next stay please opt for a room on the roadside. And when you return you can of course expect the same amazing breakfast before heading on your way.

The breakfast was the best part with a very good variety of food. The hallways are long, stairways are narrow, wireless internet somewhat spotty. Rates are better than most places but it is an expensive area (prices are even higher in nearby Banff). Having a microfridge and microwave helped, and the rooms looked nice inside. The Weather Network at this location uses a national feed so do not expect to see a local forecast from that channel.

Nice hotel, clean and good location. Not the greatest location. Hotel is bordered on one side by railway and other side by busy road. Train tracks are VERY close, so trains are quite noisy.
Nice pool with waterslide for kids. Breakfast in the morning was very good, lots of variety.

Room Tip: Choose room on the front of the hotel. Train tracks are in the back.

Thank you for your review. As always you have the option of choosing the road or train side at the time of reservation, the road side is quiet at night and we hope the trains did not disturb you too much. We’re pleased you and your family enjoyed our water park and our excellent hot deluxe continental breakfast. We look forward to serving you again

Stayed 3 nights in July 2012 on our way back from Vancouver. Very pleased with the Ramada. Pleasant Room on the front with good facilities. The stay also included an excellent Breakfast.
This was a good area to be in for exploring the Rockies.
Have stayed here before some years ago, and was no disappointed.

My wife slipped in the room's bathtub. She needed to go to the emergency room and the end result is she broke a couple of ribs.

The hotel experience during this event was horrible. It took hours to talk to a manager even though multiple managers were on the premises in an all-day meeting. When the Vice of the hotel finally did see us he kept the conversation short, had a cold demeanor, and expressed very little compassion.

He said he would not even be able to offer us any benefit, such as the emergency room costs, a room discount or a complimentary night because that may show that the hotel is liable, which he claimed it is not.

He said "any adult should know how to get in and out of a shower". We told him that the hotel did not even supply us a rubber mat for the shower, and his response was that they are available and we should have asked at the desk. We then said that this is a Ramada and is this how a big hotel chain treats its guests in an unusual situation? His response is that Ramada hotels are all individually owned and he can treat us however he sees fit.

A business should be measured, among other things, on how it reacts in an unusual situation. Now that I know Ramada hotels do not offer the protection or service of a large hotel chain I will never stay at another Ramada.

Room Tip: Not easy to find a quiet room since train tracks run directly behind the hotel.

Located in the centre of Canmore, the Ramada is ideal if you want to stop off and visit the local sights. The hotel (motel) is large and backs onto the main railway line which can be noisy at night. The rooms are large (usually 2 x double beds) with shower room and great views of the Rockies. There are lots of eating places locally and the Ramada has its own Glacier restaurant attached.
Breakfast is provided in their Breakfast Room though you are recommended at busy times to be early or late as there can be a bit of a rush. The only issues we had was the occasional noise of screaming children in the corridors in the morning but otherwise a cost effective lodging for our stay in Canmore.
