Heated underground parking was an unexpected bonus. Cork flooring throughout the unit was nice. Deep soaker tub was wonderful, same for the separate shower. Decent view of the mountains. Easy access from the highway and into town. Quiet location.

Sayed at the Solara with my wife for our 10th wedding anniversay and our stay was simply fantastic.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit on the main floor of the Aurora building facing North. Both check-and check-out were a breeze and staff were friendly and courteous. After check-in we proceeded to park our vehicle in the heated underground parking which was huge! The room was very spacious and quite simply beautiful and very nicely appointed. Where to begin - the kitchen is gourmet and the kitchen appeared to be well equipped although we ate out at restaurants during our stay so we did not actually use it! Higher end appliances, granite counters and a wine fridge complete the gourmet feel. The furniture in the dining room and living room were also quite nice with a leather couch and club chair. An electric fireplace in both the living room and the bedroom were quite nice from an ambience standpoint (altough I would have preffered a gas fireplace). Also, both the livingroom and bedroom had a flat panel tv and there was a Sony PS3 in the living room which served as a DVD player. The bedroom was beautiful and the bed comfortable wihile the bahroom was also quite nice as they have body jets and a rain shower. Also, the unit was very clean. The only thing I can think about complaining about is the low lighting in the bathroom.

We did not use the amenities offerred by the property although we did check them out. The theatre is a great idea and I suspect a great hit with kids. The gym and spa faciliies also appear to be quite nice. We also checked out the indoor hot tub and relaxation pool and we were a little disapointed as we would rather an outdoor hot tub and the relaxation pool is really a small wading pool for kids (they did have a spray area as well which would be great for younger kids).

On a final note, we read many of the reviews posted on Trip Advisor prior to booking our stay and have to say that those people who rated this property as average are probably people who simply complain about everything. We have stayed at other properties in Canmore / Banff area and Solara was the best of them. I travel for business quite often and can say this is without a doubt a much better property than most places I have stayed at. I would not hesitate in recommending this property.

The rooms looked great. Nothing appeared to be wrong when first entering. Check-in was late but coming with a big group, it wasn't too bad, we just stayed in someone else's room till ours was ready. Staying in a one bedroom, first thing we noticed was the TV in the living room would turn on, but was not connected cable. Phone front desk, "Someone will be up shortly". Sheets for the pull out couch were there, but no blankets. Phone front desk again "Someone will bring them up shortly". Didn't see anyone all night.

Next day the AC stopped working in our room. Not good for a weekend that was in the 30s. Called (reminding them about the other issues) and got the same spiel that someone would be up shortly. Still no one.

On day 3, someone finally came and fixed the issues with the AC and TV. No extra blankets though.

House keeping came after our first night, asked if we needed more towels. We said no, we still had some. Never saw them again. By day 4, some new towels and garbage removal would have been nice.

Everything else was fine. The only big issue was trying to sleep without AC, but when front desk says someone will be right up, I expect someone to be up.

Room Tip: Had a room right beside the elevator. Never heard it once, so very good sound proofing.

Dear Crazedbee,

Thank you for providing your feedback for your stay at Solara back in August. Much has changed since your stay with us over the summer, especially in regards to housekeeping and following up on guest requests. Our training programs have intensified and we have a great team that is committed to providing exceptional service to our guests and owners.

We definitely would like to host you again so you can experience the true Solara Resort & Spa experience and see the difference between then and now! The ski hills are open and the mountains look absolutely amazing with their fresh dustings of snow! A great time to relax in front of the fireplaces after a day out in the Bow Valley.

Our teams look forward to welcoming you back to Solara; please feel free to contact myself directly to discuss your past or future stays with us.

Sincerely,

We stayed in Canmore as a cheaper option to staying in Banff when my husband competed in the Banff Triathlon.

The One Bedroom Suite that we had was huge with a really nicely equipped kitchen and lovely bedroom. In comparison the lounge area felt a bit cramped and the tv was so high up that it hurt our necks to watch it. We spent most of the time watching the tv in the bedroom! The other disappointment of the room was the car park vent that was located right beside our patio - when it went off it was extremely loud and frightened the life out of me and our dog.

We cannot comment on the housekeeping in our suite as we took the "Stay Green" option which is promoted on their website and at check-in as "...you will be rewarded with $10 in Bellstar Green Bucks for each day of your stay that you forgo daily housekeeping services. By taking part in this initiative you will be helping to reduce water consumption, reduce energy consumption, reduce amenity waste, and reduce chemical use."

The most upsetting part of the entire stay was the fact that our bill was completely mucked up and we were charged a different rate to what I was quoted. I disputed this as soon as I realised but was not impressed by the customer service that I was given, even from the General Manager, and it took several days to have my bill corrected. In addition I have never received the Bellstar Green Bucks which I was advised would be sent to me.

Needless to say we will not be staying at the Solara Resort and Spa if we return to Canmore. In fact we would steer clear of any Bellstar property, which is a great shame as the location was great.

Hi Marge1972,

We appreciate all feedback from our guests who have stayed at Solara Resort & Spa, thank you for reviewing your stay with us back in September.
It is unfortunate to read that your stay was less than exceptional and that you felt that the service was not up to par. We are extremely committed to providing exceptional service to all of our guests.

Solara is very proud of our Green initiatives such as our Stay Green/Stay Rewarded Program as well as our participation with EcoStay. We thank every guest that chooses to join us in our green initiatives that we are so passionate about! In regards the Bellstar Green Bucks, the reason why they were not sent to you is that the credit was used towards your pet friendly fees. Portions of all our pet friendly fee goes towards the Bow Valley SPCA as well.

Thank you again for sharing your experiences with us and the Trip Advisor community, we do hope that you change your mind and stay with Bellstar again.

Sincerely,

Because my boyfriend works 12 hours a day shift work, we don't get a lot of quality time together so we make a point to go on little romantic getaways every so often. This time we chose to stay at Solara. We were greeted with a very friendly and helpful front desk agent. Once he gave us our key cards and directions on how to get to our room via two different elevators (this must have been an odd oversight of the builder), we opened the front door to our one-bedroom suite and I literally gasped. It was so beautiful! The kitchen was amazing... the fridge... the lighting... the spacious living room and large windows, the balcony was huge. They must have swept the snow off for us. Later that evening we bundled up and took a coffee outside and enjoyed the chilly mountain air. I also have to mention the bedroom. It was a really good size. We were able to to do morning yoga together in the bedroom before starting our day. We will definitely stay here again. We had such a great stay and was so impressed with how the suite was finished that we didn't care about taking two elevators to get to our vehicle in the parkade.

We stayed here on December, 2011, and it was gorgeous! The room was spectacular, with fireplaces in both the living room and the bedroom. Kitchen was spacious and very well appointed. The bathroom was huge, and the robes were a welcomed detail since the temperatures were chilly outside, and we were able to use the balcony with them. It just so happened there was a full moon eclipse one of the nights we were there, and with the snow and the whole romantic setting, my husband proposed in that balcony! We are planning to go back to celebrate our anniversary. Very nice stay indeed!

Stayed there for a wedding with the family.
I was very happy with the size of the suites and our room had a nice layout. Big bathrooms.
A great getaway with the family, and the kids loved the pool area but I found the pools too small for adults. (just small wading pools, but it was good for smaller children)
Liked the parkade, wasn't fond of the elevators. And I heard the people above us stomp around a lot. But other than that didn't hear people chatting in other suites around us. Just a stompy guest upstairs maybe?
Staff was friendly and very accomodating! great place to join family, friends and large groups of people at!

Room Tip: Next time I would ask for our suite not to face the main street so you could get a better view AND t...
