We have stayed at the StoneRidge Mountain Resort about 6 times now, and it has consistently been our go-to place for a getaway to the Rockies. In the past we did tend to pick some of the more luxury hotels such as The Chateau Lake Louise and the Post Hotel, but have tended to book StoneRidge now for the self-catering options and beautifully-decorated suites. The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful, especially Natasha Huggins, the Customer Service manager. If you have any concerns you can be rest assured she will address them promptly.

These fully serviced condos are extremely good value for the Banff area. Located off a short drive from the Trans Canada, the hotel is easy to access going to and from your day trips, you don't have to struggle through summer traffic if there's a festival or something going on in Canmore.

Each suite we've had has been extremely clean and well-maintained, plus they are all decorated pretty much the same, the only variation maybe being paint colour. They are quite new, I think about 2 years old, so everything is in good working order. My main concern is I notice the appliances and the sofas seem of cheaper quality and one would hope that the hotel will maintain the property in the years to come. The kitchen has enough equipment to make basic meals, and your deck also has a good-quality bbq for grilling.

The washer/dryer unit is fantastic, and eliminates the need to pack a lot of clothing. Free detergent and softener sheets are included. Beds, on the whole, are very comfortable, but vary from unit to unit, we have come across a couple that are a tad soft. What we like best about the suites are the huge bathrooms complete with a very deep soaker tub, plenty of drawer space and great showers. If in need for groceries, there is a Safeway and a Sobey's about 5 minutes away down Railway Avenue; great gourmet products can be found at The Railway Deli, just a few minutes from StoneRidge.

What is there not to like? Not much - but here are some tips we've picked up from our numerous stays:

Wifi can be spotty; over our numerous stays since last year they have tried to address the problem by adding more routers, but it can still be spotty. The best reception is in the front lobby. The staff joke about the property being "haunted" when it comes to wifi and I've been told Apple products have the most difficulty. Some suites have better reception than others. However, this is something to consider if you have to take a working vacation.

There is a second level in the heated underground parking, and during busy times, this is the best place to park, very uncrowded and usually we can park near the door. The one-bedroom with den suites do not have a view - they do tend to be a bit noisy as you can hear the air-conditioning units. However, they are good value at usually only $20.00 more than the one bedroom suites, extremely spacious with a second bathroom. The best value for the hotel is a week stay and pre-paying. They also have various specials throughout the year and it is good to check in on the website, you never know what deals you can find.

Seriously, all the rave reviews are true -- this is one of the best places to stay when visiting the Canadian Rockies - clean, beautiful suites, great service, pool and hot tub (heated and open year-round!) plus a wonderful selection of great restaurants in the Canmore area. Banff is about a 15 minute drive away and trust me, being a local, it is much preferable to stay in Canmore and away from the summertime madness of Banff.

My fiancé and I went to StoneRidge Mountain Resort for a two night getaway on November 5 and 6th, 2011. We have stayed in Canmore before but this experience was a step above the rest. There are SO many choices for condo style accommodations in Canmore but we chose StoneRidge for its new luxury accommodations. From the outside, the building looks the same as the rest but the inside is modern mountain rustic decor - really beautiful. We had a slight problem with the noise of the vents in our first room but with one phone call we were able to switch our room with zero hassle. The condo was spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed (kitchen appliances, etc). We really enjoyed the large outdoor hottub and heated pool. The resort was clean and the staff were so friendly. We found the location convenient to main street Canmore. Overall, a top recommendation to anyone (families, couples, friends) looking for a mountain retreat. I would find it hard to stay anywhere else next time I am in the area again.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for a room with a high peaked ceiling - very cool!

We stayed two nights at StoneRidge Mountain Resort and loved it. When we entered the apartment it was only aahs and oohs. Beautiful rooms which are tastefully decorated. We loved everything about it. The big living room with the open kitchen (big fridge, every thing very clean and all the appliances you need), the gas fire place and the big flat tv screen, the big BBQ on the balcony, the laundry and drying machine with free detergent !! The bathroom with two sinks, a huge shower and a big bath tub. The bedroom was very nice and we slept great on the mattress. The view from the living room an balcony was stunning (all mountains). We wished we could have stayed longer. Should we come back to Canmore again, we would definately stay at StoneRidge Mountain Resort again.

I stayed in Canmore for a couple nights to get away from the city and booked a king suite at Stoneridge. I had looked at several reviews on other sites and found a slightly lower price, so wrote to the hotel regarding their lowest price guarantee and never received a response. When sharing that when checking in, the rep was unconcerned.

The suite itself was nicely appointed. The king bed was a bit too soft. The most annoying thing was that there wasn't enough space in the bedroom itself to set down and open my suitcase. The furniture was just too large for the room. The room door, when opened, blocked the closet and vice versa. Suite doors opening and closing echoed down the hall. When I couldn't get online (iPod Touch), I was told that there was a known problem with Apple devices connecting to the wireless network. Other than these items, it was a good stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a bedroom large enough to open and set up a suitcase.
