The Wild Orchid has been our must stop dining destination in Canmore for the past 3 years now and it seems to keep getting better.
They feature some of the best sushi we have experienced so far and offer a decent selection of Japanese inspired appetizers and entree dishes. Everything from the sashimi, tempura, superb sushi rolls and grilled salmon. Even the green tea ice cream sundae will make your mouth water and keep you coming back for more.
The only thing better than the taste is the presentation and composition of the food. Rarely do I ever stop to look at my plate of food long enough to actually be impressed, but the artisans at the Wild Orchid make sure my eyes are just as happy with the food as my mouth is.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm and relaxing, and comes with a friendly, helpful staff. There is also a patio with a magnificent view of the mountains for those warm summer evenings. The restaurant is only open for supper (Past 5pm) and I would suggest getting there as close to opening as possible to beat the rush. You may want to phone in advance as the restaurant can be booked for various celebrations for the evening.
The only downside to the Wild Orchid is that it is hidden away within the Silver Creek Lodge, which is in itself tucked away on a side road. This is what makes the Wild Orchid the hidden gem of Canmore and a must stop for sushi lovers, or just anyone looking for a great dining experience at an reasonable price.
