“Great Location”
Reviewed August 6, 2011

We just stayed here as a family of five for a family wedding. The suite was very modern and had everything we needed. Our kids enjoyed the pool as well. The games rooms was never opened for some reason so they were disappointed with that. The staff are very welcoming as well. Our only comlaint was our air conditioning did not work and a couple of thinsg in the suite were not working, we reported that at check out they thanked us for doing so. We stayed last year at the sister property Mystic Springs and for families with teens this was a good set up as the second bedroom has two seperate beds, the pool is larger and you can unload you vechicle and be in your suite from the raod. Bellstar has great service, we woudl stay again.

A family of five with 18 YO girl and 13 & 12 YO boys at Blackstone (14-19 Jul 11). Awesome time. Two bedroom suites with full kitchen, two modern bathrooms and complete laundry service. Pool/2 X Jacuzzi, underground car park and a balcony with a view, what more do you want. The resort exceeded our expectations. This was our base camp for our hiking excursions. We did Lady McDonald, Ha Ling, Grassi Lakes, Plain of six glaciers, Moraine Lake, Eiffel Lake, Parker Ridge, Bow Summit Lookout trails. WOW.

I spent hours on the internet trying to find a nice, affordable hotel in or near Banff, AB for a week long escape with my husband. I kept coming back to the site for Blackstone because the idea of a separate bedroom was so attractive as I'm a night owl and my husband is a early morning guy. I worried because the price was as good as or better than any hotel in Banff itself and in Canmore...I thought it might be kind of a dive...but I decided to "go for it" and crossed my fingers. Although my husband knew about the trip...the actual hotel was a surprise. When we walked into our suite he said "Honey...what have you done??" because it looked like a place WE could NEVER afford. It was beautiful...the kitchen....I'd love to have it at home. We found the kitchen to be well stocked with dishes, pots and pans etc. The dining room table was beautifully set, the living room with fireplace was lovely and the separate bedroom was perfect (although there is a top drawer in the dresser with some game system in it....the drawer cover kept falling open on it's own...once during the night and scaring us)
The bedding was very nice, although the top cover was extremely heavy and too hot for the summer...we had to bring 2 chairs into the bedroom to put it on...summer bedding would be nice. The bed, however, was very comfortable for both of us (and we differ on the mattresses we like...but it seemed to fall nicely in the middle).
The bathroom I'd also like to bring home (actually took pictures because I'm remodeling my bathroom at home). A nice soaker tub...my husband loved the "rainfall" shower...I prefer one with a little more power to it.
The pool was nice (although filled with children...but we managed to get in a little swim each day anyway) and only 1 hot tub was working, but it was enjoyable.
There is no "maid service" which is fine with us...but they are supposed to empty the garbage and recycle and refill the coffee and tea. On our 3rd day I had to go to the front desk because this hadn't been done and our garbage and recycle runith over. The front desk staff immediately sent someone to take care of the problem and we had enough coffee and tea to last a month!!
For the most part it was extremely quiet...couldn't hear the neighbors, even sitting on our deck it was nice and quiet (and there were bunnies running about the property...not Alberta Jackrabbits...actual adorable bunnies...not tame though) One night I woke in the middle of the night because it sounded like the people upstairs were dragging all the furniture over the floor...I waited for a bit and then called the front desk...again they responded quickly and the noise stopped.
We were delighted to indulge ourselves with a couples massage...there is no spa...but you can book a massage and they come to the hotel. So nice to have a massage and then just walk to our room instead of having to get dressed and drive...it let the effects linger.
The front desk staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with tips about sightseeing, shopping etc.
I would go back tomorrow and stay a month....we just have to figure out how to get the time off work and what to do with the kids!! We've been to Banff/Canmore several times over the years...NEVER again will I pay for a hotel room when I can have a suite for the same price or better.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back so you have a view of the grounds, pool and mountains instead of a view o...

This was our second stay at Blackstone and both vists were great. From check in to check out we couldn't have asked for better service and the employees were friendly, courteous and there to help whenever they could. The rooms were neat and clean with all the ammenities including a full kitchen, 2 modern bathrooms and complete laundry service. The location was awesome, the view was great and the pool was the main attraction for the kids. Reasonable rates, easy driving distance to Lake Louise, Banff, and many local attractions, make Blackstone Mountain Lodge an ideal place to stay

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a patio or balcony for outside sitting - balcony rooms have a better view becaus...

This is am excellent hotel.

The hotel itself is fairly new and clearly well mainlined. There is a spacious underground car park with lofts from there to reception and the rooms.

The reception staff were smiling helpful and efficient.

Most important, our suite had aeverything we needed. A fully featured kitchen - dining room, small laundry room with washer-dryer, a most comfortable bedroom and, of course bathroom.

All at a very competitive rate.

I can recommend this with enthusiasm and confidence.
