This really is a must do. Being out in the wilderness, with only your dog's to guide you. Awesome experience. They staff were wonderful and so helpful. Didn't have to do long tutorials or instructional videos. You receive, a fun walk through on commands and you shown to your sleds. I was lucky enough to be able to drive the dog's front the start but for the less confident, they could share with the instructors. Half way through we all had a change over. So, get wrapped up in a blanket and get to enjoy the beautiful scenery, as the dog pull you through gorgeous country side. After sledding, everyone has a nice to thank the beautiful dog's and take some photos. With a treat of hot Apple cider and brownies by an open fire. Wonderful end to a beautiful experience

We did the dog sled tour over the New Year break, with a group of 9, including 3 children ages 2.5 to 4.5. The entire experience, start to finish, was awesome. Snowy Owl staff, individually and as a group, were among the friendliest, best trained people anywhere.

Tour was 3+ hours, arrival to finish. Weather was cold, 0 C, but was not an issue at all. Our group was split among 3 sleds, with 6 to 8 dogs per sled, and all members who wished had the opportunity to mush (drive the sled). It was a serious task, not for fooling around. Trails were winding, with hills, so mushing was a challenge. Dogs went fast in sections. Beautiful scenery through the mountains and over a frozen lake. Company is family owned and family run. Could not have been better!

Finding a suitable place to eat in Canmore was difficult. I would recommend the flat bread pizza place directly across the street from Snowy Owl. We found no other suitable place after 45 minutes of wondering around the town.

I couldn't recommend this excursion enough!

On arrival there must of been about a 100 dogs all very keen to get going, all barking their hearts out. My initial thought was I was just going to just sit in the sled for the whole ride then the instructors started teaching us all the commands, I thought "brilliant, were going to be in charge, that's even better."

The scenery especially on the frozen lake was fantastic. You got chance to to take pictures and pat the dogs and have some time out to admire the views.

At the end of the run you got hot chocolate and cookies and the chance to buy a photograph taken by one of the crew.

I will definitely do this again!

If you don't do it then it's your lose. Three of us did this as a family tour me as the driver and my wife and daughter as the passengers. From start to finish this is so well organised the tour just went to quick. The time you can spend with the huskies is great they want you to get to know them so they are comfortable with you all. Steve the guided was great at giving instructions about the drivers and passengers duties when on the tour. It was one of the best humorous instructions I have heard and got us all reved up to enjoy ourselves. Driving the sled is so much fun and takes a little bit of work as the dogs dont like the idea of the driver just standing on the back not helping them go up hills. The huskies are just so friendly and well controlled some have red a bandana around their necks which means they are shy and need their space. All the staff involved in this tour were fantastic and made you so at home.
