Despite a hand lettered sign in the window advertising for kitchen help we decided to try Hana Sushi for lunch based on recent local reviews. Hana was fairly full with a late lunch crowd. Nevertheless, the lone server seated us and took our order promptly. Green tea & miso soup followed quickly. Having spent time in Japan I'm familiar with Japanese cuisine from fine dining to simple fare. The tempura in our Bento Boxes were crispy & hot. While prepared to make allowances for western preferences, the food at Hana was a disappointment overall. The beef teriyaki was very watery & grisly. The 2 1/2 piece korean-style dynamite roll, which arrived separately, was loosely rolled and average at best. The boxes included one small scoop of rice, one modest fish cake with sriracha-mayo-sesame sauce and romaine lettuce with the ubiquitous dressing. We prefer our favourite Sumas Sushi Cafe where the food is authentic and expertly prepared.
