“TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOUR BILL!!!!”

Been going to the town hall since it opened,GREAT PLACE!BUT WAIT!!!!! I had a look at my reciepts,I have been paying gratuity and a so called SERVICE CHARGE!Very annoyed that I am being made to pay twice for their service....The most frusterating thing is I,and all the friends i go with, have been dropping about 30% or more in tips.....I don't think many people will know of this blatant steling that is going on; it"s a shame that people always want to take advantage of others in hope they won't find out........I guess that is the world we live in, beter get used to it.Please make it noticed that you already build in a tip TOWN HALL.You may loose a few patrons if you don't!

“Great Food, Great Prices, Mediocre Service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 22, 2012

Very nice looking inside and out. They did a good job on the reno's. The menu is great, food prices are inexpensive and all the food our table ordered was really really good (5 stars) BUT the service (1 star) could definitely be better. I had to actually get up and chase our server down every time we wanted a drink which was pretty frustrating considering a table close to us (found out after that the manager and/or owner was possibly at that table.....) was getting checked on every few minutes. Our server basically had one path going straight from the bar/kitchen to that table and back again. You had to get up and intercept her on that path to order something. We would try getting her attention from our table but she wouldn't even glance in our direction. Another employee came over to clear some glasses and we tried placing a drink order with her but she told us we had to order with our waitress. No attempt was made at getting our waitress or passing on the order. It was even a huge pain trying to get the bill and pay. We asked for our bill around 10:15 because we wanted to hit the beer store before heading home. The beer store is less then 2 minutes away. By the time we finally got our bill and then tracked down our server all over again so we could actually pay the bill we arrived at the beer store just as they were locking their door at 11. Luckily the beer store employee was in a good mood and let us slip in quickly. If the food hadn't been as good and as well priced as it was I probably wouldn't go back. But because of the prices and great food I might try them out another night. Maybe they were short staffed that night or just having an off night.

“Looks nice. Sounds awful. Tastes OK.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2012

Used to go here every Friday when it was "the Duke", didn't really like DJ Jazzy Jeff or whatever it was called for the last couple years. Heard it had gone through yet another change so we went here after our hockey game last Saturday night to have a pint and check it out. Now it looks really fancy and I'm sure the put a lot of cash into the place... but blasting Whitesnake and Bon Jovi at a volume so loud that even when you are the furthest you can be from the sound system you have to yell to talk to the guy next to you is ridiculous. Don't dress yourself up as a classy English "Neighbourhood Public House" when you really wish you were a nightclub. The place was busy, but we found a table for five right away, which was too bad, because I wish we had just left and gone to the Murrayville or the Thirsty Penguin instead. The beer was good, and actually not a bad price for a pitcher of Duke Pale Ale ($15.85), and the potato skins were OK. We gave the waitress $40 (two twenties) for our bill of $27, and she never came back with change! I had to go find her and ask for it after waiting about 15 minutes. "Sorry, I thought you didn't want any change," she said. Several minutes later she came back with a folder with two five dollar bills in it, not the exact change from the bill. When you are paid, you always just bring back the change. Period. Unless we say "keep the change." Never assume you are keeping it if you want a tip at all. We took the fives and left. She had paid herself what she thought was her deserved tip by not bringing the other $2.45 or whatever. We didn't really want to ask her for it - it took too long to find her in the first place, and we didn't really want to hear "You Give Love a Bad Name" again anyway.

“Awesome pub to chill”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2011

I read the previos reviews, and just a note, the friendly manager is not the owner. This place is within 10 minutes walking distance of me, and since it opened I have been there probably over 20 times now, it offers outstanding food, anykind of beer you can think of, all at a reasonable price! They also have Celeberties roll in and out of there, to name a few... Chad Kruger, Adrian Grenier, G roy Simon. Don't pass this place up! Get there early on the weekends.

“Love it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2011

When we arrived the tv's were muted and music was playing. Excellent! The bartenders were personable and friendly, as were the other staff. You might have known this establishment when it was Jazzy Jones, a start white, interior decorators nightmare. I used to go to this pub from time to time, back when it was the Duke of Wellington, a quaint little English style pub. Kudos to the new owners for making it the upbeat, classy pub it is now. Brick facade and wood paneling cover the walls. There seem to be more windows and they seem to be larger. The furnishings are attractive as well and the fire place a real show piece. The Dublin Crossing has some serious competition!
