This restaurant could be the best place for dinner in the lower mainland, if it were not for the poor service and just ok food.
Who doesn't want to go for dinner at a winery and enjoy great service paired with gourmet food, complimented by their wines, while enjoying the views of the vineyard?

Bacchus, here are the problems you may want to address from our dinner on September 29th. Our dinner bill came to $1100.58

-We were seated for over 15 minutes before I flagged someone down to get our wine service started.
-Had to flag someone down again to take our order.
-Had to ask someone if we were getting bread before dinner, the bread was amazing though.
-Had to ask again to get some more water.
-Plates sat on our table after being finished for over 10 minutes, with staff seeing them.
-Had to pour my own wine at a winery all night with the exception of the first glass.
-Empty bottle, no one asked if we would like more wine.
-Other people in our party were flagging down staff for service.
-Extremely long waits between courses.
-Under cooked Halibut, good portion size though, but not very tasty. Same with the chicken I tried.
-Had to ask for desert to be served.
-The worst part is that there was lots of staff on hand.

The list goes on and on, I really feel bad for saying this, but someone has to realize this or it will not change. The worst part is that there was lots of staff on hand.

Like I said, this place could be the gem of the lower mainland so easily, what a great setting! You can wine taste ahead of time, take a bottle and sit out on the property and then go for dinner!

So if you are reading this, do not eat here before you see something from the management as to what they are doing to increase the quality of the menu and service. All the best, I would love to come back and see some changes.

Restaurants I eat at in the same category: The Terrace at Mission Hill, Old Vines at Quails Gate, ReDD in Yountville, Ca.

The rose is great and the food is equally good, and you can enjoy both looking out over the vineyards. And even if it's raining in Vancouver, remember that Langley is in a rain shadow. The mussels as appetizer were plump and well sauced. The spinach salad with carmelized onions was set off nicely by crumbled blue cheese. The onion soup looked great but lacked flavor. The food and the wine and the pleasant countryside make for a splendid outing.

Bacchus Bistro is located at the Domaine de Chaberton Estate Winery in South Langley and is a pleasant spot for a relaxing lunch or dinner after touring the local wineries, which are in close proximity. The winery produces some very nice wines (from local and Okanagan grapes) that can be enjoyed on the outdoor patio which overloooks the vineyards.

My dinner group had rave reviews for the halibut, lamb shank and braised short ribs. Pre-meal bread was deliciously hot and crusty but IMHO hot bread is better served with hard butter, not the unappetizing soft whipped kind.

The Caesar salad was mildly disappointing. Excellent presentation and lovely fresh Romain lettuce but the dressing was bland (more lemon, garlic, and anchovies please!) and shaved parmesan would be an improvement over the grated which had little flavour.

Tucked away behind the Domain De Chaberton winery, this place is a hidden gem overlooking the vineyard. If time permits, I recommend ordering from the table d'hote menu, offering several courses and wine pairings. Pace yourself and enjoy! The food is rich and the wine is sumptuous. Plus, no matter how disciplined you may be you won't want to turn down their dessert. There is also a patio, perfect for sunny day dining. I would recommend reservations, as the restaurant is not large and it is a hotspot for social lunches and dinners. A perfect place for a date night out or a meal with friends. The service I've experienced has always been wonderful. Check ahead for their hours to avoid disappointment. Just typing this review makes me want to return...
