“Nice resort for the area”
Reviewed September 8, 2009

We stayed mid August with another couple in a suite near the smaller pool.
At that time there was construction going on , so parking near the golf course lot would result in getting your car covered with dust.
Although the resort was not on the beach, a walk through the vineyard will get you their.
The 9 hole gold course on site was great and very reasonable. From the course ,one can get a great bird's eye view of the lake and surrounding area.(signs stating"beware of rattlesnakes " makes you think twice before goin into the bush to find your ball but we had no problems. Matter of fact , one morning we saw a family of deer on the course while playing.
We found the on site resturant a little overpriced for what you got, but the winery next door was nice to visit to enjoy an outdoor patio lunch.(unfortunately, trying to order a takeout when we were at the pool next door proved to be a challenge since they were busy with walk in traffic.
I highly recommend a visit to te Desert Centre next door if only to see the rattlesnake tagging .
A pleasant discovery wasa going into town and hitting "Smittys' for breakfast. It's a family run place with great food variety and great service.
All in all , this would be a great place if you are looking for a home base to start your wine tour !!

Loved the suite. It is spacious and well appointed. The beds are very comfortable. They have top quality bath products. The onsite cultural centre is top quality and should not be missed. Being in a vineyard in August means that fruit flies abound. If you can't handle this, stay in town, but you will miss out on the cool experience of being nestled inside a working vineyard with its own high end winery. The waterslide and pool were loved by the children although pool side service was a bit lacking for us parents-- saw the server once. Checkin was friendly and helpful with tips on local places to visit. Do wish that it was nearer the lake, was my only issue with the location. The 'moments away' from the lake described is a lot farther when walking children and the path is not clearly marked.

My wife and I were at Spriit Ridge for the better part of a week. This was a welcome break and we thoproughly enjoyed it. We stayed at a two bedroom unit in the Lavender building facing the golf course. The unit was spacious and very well equipped with enough dishes to accomodate 8 people, although I would probably say that it would get quite cramped with more than five or six people sharing the unit. The beds are great - one bedroom with a king (huge king at that) and the other with two queens. Ther is a washer and dryer in the "guest" en-sute and an electric (but very capable) barbecue on the patio/veranda.

At the moment there are two restaurants, Passatempo in the main building and the patio at NK'Mip winery which is right on site. The NK'Mip patio offers luch daily and dinners on Friday and Saturda nights. Food is great at both places and wine quite affordable.

Sonora Dunes golf course, also on the site, is a short but narrow 9 hole golf course which is really fun to play. Hole six is quite challenging and great fun, as you really need to know the distance you hit and then have only a tiny landing area - have a second ball handy...

The beach is about seven minutes walk away through vineyards, but there is also a shuttle service. There you can just go for a swim or rent a boat or seadoo. A little bistro with a nice patio will take care of your hunger and thirst.

Great place, geat tranquility and.. we will be back!

Where do I start....

We planned to stay for only two days en route to Vancouver but when we saw the beauty of the facilities, we couldn't resist staying for a whole week!

The Guest Experience Desk was very knowledgeable about the area, things to do, and had a lot of resources. They were eager to help, and extremely friendly. A great way to start our vacation!!

The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious which was great for our family! Not to mention all the amenities on the Resort: private beach complete with shuttle rides, two pools, Cabana's, Passa Tempo Restaurant, Sonora Desert Spa, and of course Nk'Mip Winery.

We encourage all tourists visiting the South Okanagan to visit this fabulous Resort!!

We stayed for a week at Spirit Ridge Resort in a new 2 bedroomed unit overlooking the golf course. The stay exceeded our expectations. Its is a beautiful resort, wonderful setting, amazing units and great food at the 2 on site restaurants. There is plenty to do there especially if you like wine! The staff were very attentive. We will definitly return..it was worth every penny

I had a very pleasant stay at Spirit Ridge with my husband and two young daughters. My daughters loved the pool, hot tub and water slide. Our two bedroom, two bathroom suite was very nice with lots of room, washer/dryer, lots of granite, new appliances including three flatscreen TV's and uber-comfortable beds. It is a unique resort with a well-maintained 9 hole golf course and a winery within about 100 metres of our room.

We spent 3 nights at the resort in a 1 bedroom condo.

Booking was interesting. When I first called the resort I got a recording. I tried again and got a person, but the rate they quoted was different than what was on the their website. I was told that I would have to book through the website to get that rate.

Check-in was efficient.

The unit was very nicely finished with contemporary colors, granite, heated tile floors, laundry and 2 full bathrooms. The units are very short on storage. There were just a few drawers which doesn't quite cut it for a family of 5. Much of the closet was occupied by 4 small locked cupboards. I'm guessing they would be to lock up your wine if you are wine tasting? There weren't any keys around and I didn't inquire further.

There was a bottle of red and of white in the room from the site winery. I wasn't sure if they were complimentary or represented a 'mini bar'. I called the desk and they were for sale, one was I think around $22 and the other more. We passed.

The resort markets itself as having a beach, but what they mean is that if you take a little hike or drive to their partner RV resort you have access to the lake. ie.you're in a trailer park, with trailers backed up literally to the lake.

The maid service was fine, but they weren't the friendliest. It seems to take a lot of them (2-3) for what needed to be done in the room.

The pool area was nice with a separate waterslide. They seemed to run out of pool towels regularly by the evening. Fortunately there weren't too many people playing the lounger reservation game like we have experienced in Europe and Mexico.

The condos come with an electric BBQ which our unit seemed to be lacking. A call the front desk did result in one being delivered promply. Ditto for additional dishwasher soap.

There is still construction going on, but where we were we didn't hear any of it.

Overall a great stay and would consider returning.
