the stroll around the site is classic, but we were there early when nobody else was around - I could imagine it could get crowded. The gift shop is not very large and does not have a great display of native art. The indoors displays and video are phenomenal, particularly the video - very original.

Thank you for your kind comments regarding our films and Centre. We take pride in our movie (Coyote Spirit) as it was filmed on the Osoyoos Indian Band and the story is deep and thoughtful. You are correct to assume it gets crowded so your arrival time was perfect for strolling and taking it all in. We hope you come back and please, email us any suggestions for First Nation art as the Okanagan style of artwork is very varied from other Nations! Thank you!

We spent virtually a whole day here - excellent wildlife and the interpretation, boht self guided and guided walks and the talks in the auditorium are all really excellent and give a real understanding of the environment and living legacy of the first peoples. Brilliant building too which really fits into the environment.

we went in the off season but a bus tour came shortly after making it unbearable as the space is not big enough to accommodate a lot of people except the auditorium so I think it would be quite hard in the peak season ...it is quite expensive ..there is a 20 minute video and one in the teepee both very interesting ..the display was neat and the snakes outside for viewing but there is not a lot to see here. I would have liked to take what looked like a very interesting trail hike maybe there would have been more to see but it was raining ....the gift store was awesome and good selection and prices ....A lot of walking to get from the parking lot to the entrance which might not work for some...worth checking out though overall ....

Settled up the hillside in Osoyoos, BC. This centre gives you a very good look at how the aboriginals lived before Canada was here. A guided tour through the ground will make you appreciate how everything is a part of everything, and thus we need to respect all beings. The snake show is extremely educational and the guide is so informative. Nice walking trails are good for any ages, a must to do when you visit this border town in BC.

The Osoyoos area has a varied and interesting history and it's first peoples play a large part in that history. Congratulations to the Nk'Mip people for keeping their presence known in this rich and unique ecosystem.
The Desert Cultural Centre is a good place to start your explorations of the area. There are indoor and outdoor displays but it's not so much that it goes on too long. Just enough. We went to a talk on Pow Wow's in the theatre and it was just one guy, a drummer, talking about what a pow wow is. There could have been more pictures and video would have been great but he was a capable host and kept us entertained. He gave us a demonstration of drumming and singing which I really loved.
The gift store is not great. It has the same old stuff that all info centre's have. I hope in time there will be more authentic gifts and tshirts/sweatshirts to purchase.
