The cultural aspect of this facility combined with the great attention and efforts being done to preserve the land and diverse wildlife here is an exceptional experience and would encourage all visitors to the area not to miss it.

“Educational, interesting and enjoyable all rolled into one”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 13, 2011

Not only did we learn about the history of the native people, we also learned about the history of the area, the wildlife and plantlife and plans for the future. It was as 'hands on' as you liked. We really enjoyed our visit.

“Nk'mip--not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2011

We (a family of 4 with 2 young girls) visited Nk'mip during the summer. We listened to two talks--about PowWow etiquette and drumming and a snake show. Both talks were expertly done but with a good relaxed atmosphere. All members of our family loved both the shows. It was particularly exciting to have seen a rattlesnake during the show and then go for a walk along the desert trails in rattlesnake territory. The metal sculptures at the Desert Centre are very effective, particularly around the trails. One of the beauties of this place is that you can find out interesting things, go for a lovely walk, have a great lunch and taste some beautiful wine (the Ice wine in particular) all on the same site--and all on reserve land. It really is an inspiring place. One of the best days of our holiday.

“Must visit: see the snake show and enjoy the desert walk”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2011

The cultural centre is well done. We saw the interesting snake show (included in the admission price) and learned that if we were bitten by a snake we would be OK if we got to a hospital within 6-8 hours, so we were reassured as we pottered around on the shorter walk to the reconstructed village.

I went back in the afternoon and took the longer loop walk. I was the only person there and sat on a bench under the shade of a tree and just enjoyed being part of the landscape, listening to the slight noises in the scrub, watching clouds and the view and time just passed. This restful spiritual renewal was one of the highlights of my holiday.

The durations they give to take the walks is a 100% overestimate even for an oldie like me who goes slowly and likes to read all the info boards and look at scenery so don’t let them put you off, nor the nonsensical advice to carry water. It’s a short stroll on a good path.

I’d have liked a longer walk up to the foot of the cliffs.
