What a great place to learn about the Okanagan aboriginal culture and the endangered species! Do not miss the powwow as it will make your soul happy.

We visited in July 2011. We loved the outside museum, the interior displays, and the movies. The outside displays also create a great opportunity for sightseeing.

But this is not why we are writing today.
We are writing today to share with all of you a severe case of "no freedom of speech" on TripAdvisor. We got back from a trip to Okanagan, BC, Canada, in July 2011. We wrote two reviews first. One was about the Burrowing Owl Guest House, a charming bed-and-breakfast in Oliver, and the other was about Hester Creek Villas, another charming bed-and-breakfast in Oliver. The two reviews were posted by us on the EXACT SAME DAY, approximately 30 minutes apart. Here comes the craziness: while our review of Burrowing Owl got posted the next day, the other review we wrote at the same time for the other B and B (Hester Creek) still hasn't been posted today, which is one month later!!!!! We wrote to Trip Advisor Customer Service and asked how come two reviews we wrote on the same day for two similar venues in the same geographic location - ended up being treated so differently as far as being posted on line....;.. We got an answer from Trip Advisor Customer Service that didn't make any sense - telling us that the two reviews were treated differently because they were for "such different facilities" - which showed that the person who "responded" to us was either CLUE LESS or CARE LESS, because this was completely inaccurate. The person also said in their email that the "review of the review" may take up to ...one week. Well, it has been a month, and to this day, ONE MONTH LATER, our review of Hester Creek Villa still has not been posted. So we are wondering what happened: was there a lazy person who threw our review away rather than spending time to review it?? Was it that Hester Creek or TripAdvisor staff did not like our review and hence it didn't get posted???? This should be a lesson for all of you out there who are spending your valuable time trying to review things on TripAdvisor... this is what you can expect!!!

Watched the local snake handling event and toured the premises. Very well done. Interesting and clean. Amazing what some federal government money can do if used productively. Worth attending

The Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre was interesting even though a little expensive. Walk is shorter than advertised. Bring water.
A little disappointment: We asked for a ticket for 2 adults and 2 children (40$) and they charged us separetly instead of the family price (36$). When we asked why, we were told that it was our fault since we did not say that we were a family in a rude way... disappointed by the customer service attitude.

We enjoyed our visit to the Desert Cultural Centre. After watching the films we took a look at the artifacts on display, then headed outside for the little "hike" on the trail through the grounds. The larger loop trail certainly doesn't take as long as they say (unless you are stopping all the time to take pictures or something) and it's a nice walk with lots to see - we saw a family of deer quietly meadering through the trees very near to the trail. There isn't much shade so not sure how it would be in the heat of summer.

Learning about the signifiacance of the spotted lake (in the film) was nice because we had seen it on our way in but didn't think anything of it!

We did a daytrip down to osoyoos to the desert centre and the cultural centre. This trip was well worth it and would recommend to anyone. The inside part of the centre is great with its 2 films which are very interesting. The outside walk is fantastic even in the off season to the village with the pit houses. I will be returning for sure
