Our first stay at this facility was May 2013. We booked the one bedroom Lakeview Suite. Aside from the terrible internet reception and bedsheets that are clearly washed in industrial strength detergent (sheets were sandpaper rough), the location is exceptional and it is a very very clean, quiet motel. We booked this facility for a wine tour in September for four middle-age, professional, responsible couples. Three of the couples booked the 3 bedroom/2 bathroom Lakeview Suite, which consists of a king-size master bedroom/ensuite, and two Queen bedrooms. Note, this is the most expensive suite in the entire facility. The remaining couple booked a regular room in the main part of the motel. As soon as we entered the 3-bedroom suite, it wreaked of stale sweat. Unless all doors/windows opened, you couldn't get rid of smell. Only time we didn't smell it was when we were cooking. Despite the suite having a full kitchen, there were no basic condiments (salt/pepper) and it was never conveyed that the owners would provide same. The maximum occupancy for the 3 bedroom/2 bathroom suite is two people...so each additional guest was charged $10 per night, an additional $40 a night. Why anyone would book a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom suite for just two people defies common sense. Because of the very rough sheets, everyone brought a top sheet to sleep on - and a good thing as sheets in all beds were VERY rough. First indication of how unaccommodating hosts were was the second night after we came back from dinner to find the parking lot full, except for two handicap spots, leaving one of the vehicles without a parking spot. Brent tells registered guest to park on street - as he was saving a handicap spot for a guest who would be checking in late. So despite fact we were already registered and they were not expecting any guests requiring handicap privileges, he would not allow vehicle to park in the remaining handicap spot. Then Brent informs us that the hotel has a ONE PARKING SPOT per unit policy. Huh? Staying in the most expensive suite on the property - three times cost of regular unit - which is clearly designed for minimum six adults and only one parking spot per unit? Thoroughly checked website later and could not find a parking policy recorded anywhere. Sherry then joined the discussion and determined that some of the vehicles parked in the motel parking lot belonged to visitors of motel guests. Her solution at 10pm was to knock on all the doors of the motel to find the visitors and ask them to move their vehicles. Not wanting to disrupt all the guests, decided to park out in the street. Brent then complains to the guest parking on the street - in a very long canopied truck, to angle park his vehicle - which if he did would have meant the vehicle would have been jutting out into traffic on the very narrow street. And it's street parking, not overflow hotel parking, so Brent has no say on how someone parks in the street. Lastly, there are gas BBQs located throughout the facility, secured right against the buildings, for guest use. You can't move the BBQs away from the walls of the building as they are locked in place. We used the BBQ our last morning there and unfortunately some bacon caught on fire, which was quickly, safely extinguished. (One of the members of our party is a firefighter). A small, faint grey mark ended up on side of building. Sherry came out and angrily stated we would have to pay to repaint the building. And yet there was a 2-ft. black soot mark on the wall behind the BBQ located directly across from the office. Given the manner in which we were treated, we will not be returning to this facility nor recommend it to any friends/associates. Which is too bad, because the location is spectacular. But quality of service is just as important as location.
