We stayed at Sandy Beach for 2 nights on our tour of BC. We found our room very spacious, light, and extremely well equipped with quality fixtures and fittings. The view over the lake is quite spectacular. The motel is in a quiet location with excellent lake frontage. We highly recommend this motel and would have loved to have stayed there longer - trying more local wines!

I have stayed in many many motels in my life the Sandy Beach Motel is number one. This motel offers everything that will make a family summer holiday very memorable. Rooms are exceptionally clean and spacious and well laid out with full kitchens. Grounds are so nice with grass in the middle of the units, lots of BBQ’s for those all important steaks! Anyone who knows Osoyoos will know the beachs are great. At Sandy Beach the beachfront is amazing, lots of sand and sun however in addition to this there is also room to hide in the shade of those tall trees once you have had enough sun. No need to bring chairs (lots available) and unless you like digging in the sand umbrellas are optional. There are many things to do for little ones with a full complement of sand toys, a canoe and kyack and lots of things to float on. What else can you ask for? Oh I know great hosts Brent and Sherry Martin are friendly and so accomodating. These guys never stop you can tell they love this place as much as their guests and work hard to keep this palce so nice. Thanks for a great stay. Kevin Ryan

We recently returned from our first trip to the Sandy Beach Motel and we were pleasantly surprised. The location is phenomenal and perfect for families with little children (like ourselves) who enjoy digging on the beach. The way the units are situated with water views from most decks allows parents to put their little ones safely to bed while still being able to enjoy the evening outside. We had originally booked at the Holiday Inn and after seeing their sludgy, sandbagged beach we feel blessed a cancellation came through at Sandy Beach. The beach area at this motel is quite large and has numerous trees for shade if needed. The lake is warm and the long shallow slope into the water makes it safe for new swimmers.

The rooms are clean and comfortable. We stayed in a studio unit and had ample room for our family of three. You can tell from the look of the property that the owners take pride in their establishment and there wasn't a moment that you didn't see them working hard to please their guests. There is no "maid" service, but we actually appreciated the privacy and quiet we had to clean our room at our own leisure -- especially since our little one naps. Everything for clean up and cooking is provided for you along with a handy under the counter vacuum system to sweep any unknowing sand. The only quibble we had was that the sheets on the bed were really starched, stiff, and uncomfortable, so we might bring our own next time.

There are plenty of free beach toys and inflatables for use along with a kayak and a canoe. We loved the fact there were chaise lounge beach chairs and joked that this was the closest we could get to Mexico in B.C. and without the cost of a plane ticket!

We also appreciated the owners no smoking and no noise after 11:00 pm policies and felt that this contributed to a relaxing family environment. If you are looking for a party atmosphere this is not the place for you!

Overall, we had a fantastic vacation and we will be back for many more years to come. We think that Sandy Beach Motel should change its name to "Sandy Beach Resort" because it it just that!

We had a wonderful time staying at this oasis! The early quiet mornings sipping coffee on our patio overlooking the lake and mountains were the best. Afternoons on comfy lounge chairs with toes in the sand and water enjoying cold drinks. Evenings enjoying wonderful dinners made on the clean bbqs outside our unit and watching our young children play with everyone on the large grassy area. We were RELAXED, we ENJOYED ourselves and we coudn't have asked for more. We and our children felt the family atmosphere and we wouldn't change a thing. I can't wait to return!!

Room Tip: Very clean and well equiped

We have just returned from our annual Sandy Beach vacation - we are one of the family groups that has been coming for more than 30 years.

Our adult children are now bringing their children to 'experience' Sandy Beach. For the young children there are hours of playing on the beach, in the water or on the grass - building sand castles, splashing in the lake or chasing balls or bubbles on the grass. There is an endless supply of 'friends' and surprisingly few tears. We have always felt that our family was 'safe' here.

For the young at heart the hours can be passed contemplating the ripples on the lake, reading, and enjoying the antics of the children at play. There is always the option of golf, horseback riding, wine touring and a myriad of other grown up pursuits. There are opportunities to enjoy the simple pleasures of an early morning walk or washing dishes and chatting.

While many of us have been coming to this resort for years, there are always newcomers who are welcomed. If they choose to embrace the opportunities this location provides there is possibility of meeting new people and making new friends. If they choose to keep to themselves their privacy and peace is respected.

The owner/managers of the motel have instituted a family fun night. One evening is dedicated to games on the grass. This is an opportunity for people who may be shy to meet the other people at the motel - or at least smile at the antics of the cross generational group playing games and tossing water balloons. Kids (of all ages) have a blast.

On the topic of the owners I want to say that they were very helpful to me personally. When I had a family situation to sort out, Sherry spent considerable time assisting me. When I heard a noise outside our cabin at 3AM I went to investigate only to find both Sherry and Brent already on the scene. They dealt with a group of aggressive teens (who were not guests at the motel) in a respectful and effective manner. When we needed something - they were there. One of the 'new' families had a late night accident and Sherry offered to drive the family to the hospital in Oliver. To me, that shows they care about their guests.

I know that it is impossible to please everyone all of the time. With so many customers (there is seldom a vacancy here) I think that Sherry and Brent do their best to consider the needs of the majority of their guests. This is definitely NOT the place to come if you are looking for late night partying that impacts the peace of other guests. The owners are very protective of the family friendly atmosphere they provide - which keeps families returning year after year. Who knows - we may see our great grandchildren playing on the sandy shores of Osoyoos Lake.

Room Tip: Keep an eye on the availability calendar - the units are well described on the website.

If not a large family group get second story unit. Otherwise look elsewhere. People book here for decades so it is a social gathering for them. If you want quiet quality unwind time YOU WILL be diasappointed!!!!!!
