“Quiet history”
Reviewed May 15, 2013

What can one say, quiet beauty to reflect in the past on the pioneers who built this lovely church, taking in the views and listening to the ghosts of those gone before us. Would love to see a light and musical service there for one to enjoy in sunset.

“Impressive historic site”
Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

The scale of the church ruins and the setting are very impressive. Great job of integrating the new church into the ruins and the setting. Worth the drive to this off highway site.

“Hauntingly beautiful.”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Stopped by to visit the St. Raphael's Ruins on the weekend of January 12th, 2013.
On this day there was no guide and the heavy iron gates were locked shut. However, it still allowed for some remarkably beautiful photographs.
It is a gorgeous gothic historical site and only about forty minutes from the Vaudreuil-Dorion area, there was no one there on this day despite the mild weather which made for a very serene visit.
We are looking forward to visiting again in the Summer.

“INTERESTING HISTORIC GLENGARRY SPOT”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

Well worth a stop on a visit to historic Glengarry county of Ontario, St Raphael's is the historic birthplace for all Roman Catholic Scots and central to understanding the fundamental role of the Scots in settling Canada. The ruins are well preserved and documented and free to enter (voluntary donations are welcomed). Particularly noteworthy is the fact that there is a volunteer present, in our case a young french Canadian, to answer questions (and readily admit not knowing as much about the Scots of Glengarry as he should having a French Canadian background!)

“Lovely place”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

Definitely worth a visit...beautiful place where you feel the history..the cemetery at the side of the church is also an interesting to walk through....most of the headstones are still legible and you can peak into history.
