A major problem that I had and, perhaps, Daniel's has is that it is difficult to find. It isn't that it is hidden but rather that it is where one does not expect it to be. Located in a growing suburb on a busy thoroughfare and tucked in a strip mall, Daniel's seems bashful about its presence

However, it need not be bashful about its food. It is the unique menu and the tasteful presentations that will imprint Daniel's location forwever. The BC version of Fish and Chips features salmon and oven fried potatoes. A little more delicate is the lobster and shrimp served in a phillo dough delicacy.

I was there for lunch and found it to be a perfect place for that two hour lunch. The server was prompt and attentive without being a needless bother. The banquett was comfortable. The music, subdued. A feeling of being removed from the bustle of commerce. Perhaps, it was the water feature that calmed.

I'm looking forward to the next treat; dinner at Daniel's

We went because of a groupon purchase. We found the Bruschetta appy to be quite delicious. We had the lamb shank for our main. It was really good and very tender. They served it with couscous and vegetables. The portion was huge, so you won't go home hungry. The veggies were a bit dehydrated, not sure if they were fresh or frozen, but it was good. We love wine, and found the wine list to be very reasonable and a good selection. Dessert was also very good. We had a light, fluffy cheese cake.

We've been meaning to try this place, and finally went there with a Groupon 3-course meal promo. The location is unfortunate, right beside the highway, and tucked beside an x-rated shop, rental car place, and thrift store. However, once you step onto their patio and see the fresh flowers, through the door and see the cascading waterfall, and into the restaurant and see the obvious effort that went into the decor, thoughts of the outside disappear.

Our deal gave us the choice of two shared appies, but they also offered an additional choice: the African peanut soup. Good thing we went for that, because the flavours were delicate, textures and consistency perfect, and there was plenty for the two of us (they even split it into two portions without being asked). Good start.

For the entree we both had the salmon and shrimp. The salmon was presented on a bed of dill/pea risotto, very tasty. Salmon was a little on the dry side, but the shrimp/prawns were perfectly cooked and full of flavour. Came with some additional veggies as well. All in all, a generous portion, very enjoyable.

We had the choice of shared cheesecake or ice cream for dessert. Went with the ice cream. Not much cooking to that one, but again, the portion was generous (vanilla and mocha flavours), the presentation was thoughtful (chocolate sauce, sliced strawberries), and it was delicious.

Overall, surprisingly impressive. They were setting up for live music (fri, sat) as we left; might be worth checking out, though the performer is right in the middle of the restaurant without a stage, so it could interfere somewhat with your dinner convo.

My wife and i spotted the restaurant passing by on our way to another destination. We were getting tired of the fare offered in the local restaurants,so we decided to give them a try.We have been several times for the dinner settings, also for lunchtime. My wife has introduced several of her friends to lunch at Daniels and they were impressed. We met Chef Victor Bongo on our first visit, and found him to be a very interesting person. We had a very interesting conversation with the Manager, who told us about the Chef's history. The food was very good especially the"African Peanut Soup".We have recommended to many of our friends that they try for themselves and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

We discovered Daniels by virtue of a Groupon promotion, allowing us a net $15 discount on our meal. The quality of the meal was a little uneven on reflection. The appetizers were quite nice in terms of taste and presentation, with kudos for the "African Peanut Soup". The entrees on the other hand were sturdy but somewhat uninspired. The appetizers promised something a little more in the main course, so we were mildly disappointed.
The oddness of the evening was reflected in the location of the restaurant, (immediately adjacent to a tired old sex shop), and the live musical entertainment, consisting of a woman singing jazz standards to prerecorded tracks (with her son manning the laptop), and an unusual entourage that she was sitting with between sets. Her voice was surprisingly pleasant, and for the most part nicely in tune, but the overall impression was that of being in the scene of an offbeat Cohen Brothers movie, which depending on how you enjoy this slice of life, will be interpreted as bizarrely entertaining, or just plain bizarre. For the folks with an oddball sense of humour, this just might be your cup of tea.
