Best Western Chelsea Inn
Ranked #3 of 4 Hotels in Coquitlam

I stayed at the best western from the Okanagan for a concert, so made a weekend of it. We got the family suite and were so happy with everything. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL ROOM.

Breakfast was included and it wasn't just a dinky "continental" breakfast...it actually made us full.

I would recommend this place to anyone that is travelling to the Coast for business or pleasure!

My friends and I stayed at the Chelsea Inn during the Olympics and were pleasantly surprised with our stay.

First of all the front desk clerk who checked us in was kind and courteous and went out of her way to make us feel at home. We had not traveled on public transit in Vancouver before and the close proximity of the Skytrain station and the great instructions by the hotel staff allowed us to move around Vancouver with ease.

The room was spacious, well appointed, and above all very clean. In the morning we took advantage of the free continental breakfast which was an excellent start to our day.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

This is a typical Lower Mainland hotel. It is older, well maintained and overpriced. Do not accept any room facing Brunette as the traffic noise is horrendous 24/7. Rooms at the back are quieter. We stayed for five nights and the electronic room key never really worked. We probably had 30 or more key cards over our stay and the lock didn't work very well. The problem now is that the cleaning staff see that you are having trouble and let you in without any question. I am not sure how they know if you belong in that room. We were robbed in another hotel last year and its not hard to see how this can happen.
Good but standard breakfast in a larger clean separate room. Overall cleanliness is ok but the rugs do seem to be vacuumed very often. The glasses aren't changed every day and we found lipstick on one of them. The hotel does have an outdoor pool which was out of service during our stay.
This hotel welcomes teams competing in local events. We had 10-12 year old boys lacrosse teams on the weekend. Fortunately, parents established corridor check points to stop corridor relay races and monitor traffic. It worked this timeand other similar groups should take note of this practice.

My partner and i stayed at this hotel for one night in early September. The check in was quick and efficient and the reception area looked attractive and clean. Our room was at the front of the building but I didn't notice any major traffic noise so it wasn't an issue.
The rooms were large and well appointed with lovely fluffy clean duvets on the bed and lots of new looking towels in the bathroom. Im a nut for cleanliness and I had no compaints at all.
The continental breakfast in the morning was more than adequate with pastries, bagels, cream cheese and jams, cereals and boiled eggs. All constantly replenished while we were there.
All in all a very pleasant stay in a very (for us) convenient location. We will stay there again.

Based on previous advisors comments, we requested a top floor room, facing away from the highway. Over a period of two weeks, we had at least six conversations with staff and each time confirmed that our request was going to be met. Each time the answer was 'yes'. Unknown to us, was the fact that on the day of our arrival, the management had given our room away to someone extending thier stay. We arrived a little early to see if our room was ready, and we were told to come back in an hour to an hour and a half, and all would be ready. I asked if we were still getting a top floor, away from the hightway, and was told 'yes' We came back and were given the keys to #224. I asked if we were on the top floor, and I was told that there were no rooms on the ground floor, and that there were two floors above. We get in the elevator and see that there are three floors. Figuring that the room keys just don't match the floor numbers, I push '3'. Well #324 was not our room. When I told the staff that the key wouldn't open the room, she said well you have room #224, on the second floor! The staff had lied to us, to our face, three times, and thought well maybe they won't notice? It was then that we were informed that they had given our room away and that they would 'try to do something'. The manager was treating us rudely because we wouldn't accept a situation that they created, and tried to lie about. We were then told that they would move the people out of the room we had requested, and that it would have to be recleaned, so to come back in two hours. I had frozen goods ready to place into the freezer and vegetables to go into the fridge. I was not willing to wait a further two hours, so reluctantly, we took # 224. I could smell the scent of stale cigarette smoke from out in the hall, two doors away. This was not just some one night smoker, but a long period of time, where people had been smoking in the room. The carpets reeked, the drapes stunk, and the bedspreads had burns. We spent $15 dollars on Febreeze, and had to treat the room over two days to knock down the stench. The toilet backed up on the second night, as did the toilets of three other families that were staying there as part of our sports team. The handiman who came to fix
it as we were checking out on the third morning, claimed that this happened all the time there. To top it off, on the floor we were on, the ground was just below the window, so anyone could stand there at the back of the hotel and work on entering your room. Our room window didn't lock! I wouldn't stay there again, even if it was for free. At our tournament there was a raffle prize of one nights stay at the Chelsea, and I wouldn't place a ticket in the bucket for it. I encouraged others not to as well, just to avoid the deplorable experience we had. If you want somewhere to go for an hour with your 'partner'...Go somewhere else, because this place isn't even good enough for that!! The staff lies to your face, and then tries to make you feel bad for not bailing them out of a problem that they created. Unprofessional and definitely not up to Best Western standards. They should be dropped from carrying the name.
