We had a room booked at the eagle mountain B&B and it looked beautiful very elegant and classy after talking with the host she said we may be better in the '1 bedroomed suite' as we would have basically a whole apartment like suite to ourselves with its own kitchen - i asked if there were any photos but told they hadn't got round to doing them but now i know why there was no photos.

The house is in Coquitlam and it was a beautiful house and stunning inside then we were shown to the 'suite' which was the basement room - it was very dark and even in the day we had to put the lights on - this maybe would not have been so much of an issue should we have been told it was a basement however we were not expecting that at all we assumed that from looking at the pictures of the B&B the 'suite' would be to the same standard.

To be frank and totally honest it felt like stepping back in time - it felt like everything that was no longer needed in the house upstairs was just put down there - it was cold so much so that when we went to bed at night the sheets actually felt damp !

To see what the weather was like each morning we had to step out into the garden.

We were told we'd have a private garden when we arrived was told that the dog went to do his wee's in there but nothing else then we went out one day to find a lump of dog poo in the garden so its not like we would've let our 1 year old daughter play out there.

we stopped having the breakfast in the end as well as we'd gotten a little tired of fruit and cereal so the one morning we asked for eggs (which we knew were an additional charge) we felt that the hosts attitude to this request was not acceptable she really made a point of saying she normally charges extra for eggs but she'd do it this once for us as though we were really putting her out - to be fair she did do them for us however we told her from then on we did not wish to take breakfast there any longer.

As far as i am concerned your hosts should be as accommodating as they can be and i ended up feeling that the suite had been mis-sold to me and that we were a nuisance. It is a shame as i feel that if we had slept in the house itself we may have felt differently as the house is so modern and bright and fresh and clean, unfortunately we did not feel this was the case in the basement.

We wouldn't stay here again. A holiday is supposed to be a treat - a chance to maybe live a little better than you do at home - i could not wait to get back to my own house !!
