“Food good but poorly managed restaurant”
Reviewed November 25, 2012 via mobile

Took the SeaBus to North Van for a Sunday outing and stopped in for lunch. Food and beer were fine but the place is poorly managed. We are unlikely to go back.

When we first arrived we were told it would be 20 minute wait and that we could wander and return which we did. Returned in about 15 minutes and advised that there were still two parties ahead of us. No problem. A party of 3 showed up behind us. There were offered a seat in the front lounge area immediately and told they could order and have their meal there. They proceeded to do that. After they placed their order a table vacated in the restaurant and they asked if they could move to that table. The staff were happy to accommodate them. Meanwhile we and two other parties were still patiently waiting. Had we been seated almost immediately after that we would have been quite fine. But it took another 10 plus minutes before we were seated.

Service was then slow. We ordered drinks and food at the same time. One draft beer and one coffee. Drinks arrived. A couple was seated next to us. Same waitress. They ordered and shortly after that they were served food. At that time we were advised by our waitress that she had forgotten to place our food order. Apologized and said she would comp the beverages. Eventually our food arrived. Nicely presented and tasted excellent.

Another couple in the same general area had been waiting patiently to pay their bill. They were told by the same waitress that she would bring the machine. Because we had other things to do, after eating we put our credit card out on the table which the waitress noticed when she cleared plates. We also asked for more coffee.

The waitress made 5 trips to the service area without picking up a coffee pot. She eventually headed our direction with the credit card machine and turned around when she realized that she had forgotten the coffee. She then proceeded to process our bill before returning to the other couple whom had been waiting a much longer time to clear their bill.

In my opinion poor management, poor supervision and poor training.

“Nice restaurant in a nice location”
Reviewed November 6, 2012

Went there for lunch by myself. It was nice of the server not to make me wait on drinks and food.
Had the fried oysters and fries. Very tasty. Would certainly recommend.

“One of our favorite spots!”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

The view on a warm summer day on the deck is outstanding, but we go year round. The food is consistently good, as is the service. We have taken a lot of company from out of town and they are always pleased with the food and thrilled by the location. We visited this restaurant when we didn't live in BC, and now that we do, it is a favorite.

“Great place to eat.”
Reviewed October 26, 2012

We love their made from scratch offerings. In the summer months we like to sit on their patio and enjoy the view of the harbour. The prices are not over blown like at so many eateries around here.

“Pub experience with a restaurant atmosphere”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Enjoyed my first visit to the Cheshire Cheese Inn. I had toad in the hole which was served with a green salad. The dinner and beverage were good....... except I was a little disapointed with the salad. It was just lettuce and house dressing. Could have been more interesting but all in all was an enjoyable evening.
