“Great spot - great service - reliable food”
Reviewed March 12, 2012

Dining out with a child - ESM is a good reliable option with a kids menu with a good range of options for the picky eater as well as more healthy selections. Decent range of options for the big people in your party too.

This is a franchise wih little variation from one to the other, but this location stands out with a great waterfront location on the second floor of the Lonsdale Quay Market. On the night we dined we were staying at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel which is in the same building so it was convenient to walk down to the restaurant without having to brave the late-winter storm brewing outside.

The staff were very friendly and helpful - our server Jeremy was very energetic and attentive.

Good reliable food at a decet price - overall good value and a great location.

“Good food, good price.”
Reviewed February 10, 2012

We went to the lonsdale quay one for a birthday party, and got lots of spaghetti and meatballs and good old garlic bread. The spaghetti was nice and savory, with sausage cut into it, and you may call it simple, but it was delicious for a low price of 90$ for 7 of us.

“the kids love it”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

On Monday's ESM's has a "kids eat free" special. It's always a fun place for them, they love the pasta, and ice cream cones. Us adults indulge in the soup, salad and garlic bread deal for $11.99. They really have the best tossed salad around. It's not a fancy place, but the view is great for the kids, they can watch the boats go by and maybe even the hockey game, if it's on tv. We will plan to visit ESM on one Monday each month. Service does leave something to be desired, but for the value, I didn't really mind that things were a bit slow. Plus, kids get a toy at the end! Who can beat that? Great deal, everyone's happy.

“Great food, fantastic view”
Reviewed September 30, 2011

My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal at East Side Mario's at the Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver.

We had the bruschetta and asiago spinach dip as appetizers. Both were fantastic. East Side Mario's also offers endless warm bread and salad - very tasty and you never go away hungry.

My girlfriend had a cheese pizza for dinner. It was very flavourful, as was the roasted 1/4 rottissarie chicken that I had.

We shared a chocolate mousse for desert that was absolutely incredible.

The view is fantastic, overall a very nice dinner.

“gluten allergy? stay away!”
Reviewed September 19, 2011

I stopped by East Side Mario's to inquire if they could accomodate my wife's gluten allergy to which they said yes. When we arrived my wife alerted our server that she was a celiac but our server did not know what that was so we explained to her that it's a gluten allergy. Our server then brought over a big binder of menu items and ingredients and told my wife to flip through it to find something suitable to eat. This is disappointing as most restaurants are very good about accomodating this very common dietary request without expecting the customer to do the leg work. The good thing about allowing my wife to flip through the binder was that she found all kind of inaccuracies including lumping a gluten allergy and wheat allergy together....not the same thing! Not exactly inspiring confidence in someone with a food allergy! East Side Mario's is being left behind by their competitors when it comes to accomodating this very common allergy. For example, Boston Pizza has a gluten free pizza on their menu. If you have a gluten allergy stear clear of East Side Mario's.
