Owner description: Just 15 minutes from downtown Vancouver, Grouse Mountain attracts locals and tourists alike. During the summer, guests enjoy hiking, Zip Line Adventures, paragliding, sightseeing, lumberjack shows and more. In winter, we have skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sleigh rides among many other activities. Grouse Mountain also features several different dining venues, from café style at Lupins to casual dining at Altitudes and fine dining as a guest at The Observatory. We also have a refuge for endangered wildlife.

You are on top of Vancouver when you go to Grouse Mountain. Especially worth it on a nice day but there is always something to see and do.

You can do better for your money elsewhere on the North Shore if you're wiling to do a very modest amount of hiking. I am a North Shore resident and went up Grouse in October with a visitor from Ontario and his brother (another local). Roughly $40.00 each for a round-trip cable car ride, even in the "off" season. It was not worth half that IMHO.
If you enjoy strenuous hiking, have a go at the Grouse Grind for the upward leg. The cable-car ride down will cost you $10.00 (which itself represents a doubling in price over the past few years).

This local North Shore mountain has lots to offer for anyone wanting a day with nature. You can challenge yourself if you're physically fit - do the Grouse Grind - there were lots of tired but happy faces hanging around for a breather at the top! For a more scenic and leisurely way to get up to the top, we took the gondolas. Up top, there are food and beverage outlets, we watched a very entertaining 'logging' show, saw the Grizzly bears up close, zipped across the tree tops and saw the whole of Vancouver from the Eye of the Wind - an enclosed viewing platform at the top of a wind turbine. Just an awesome all around experience!

A visit to the top of Grouse Mountain is a must for visitors to Vancouver. There are free shuttles from the city centre and good inexpensive transit connections to the gondola base.
From the base, it is a 15-20 minute scenic Skyride to the peak where there is a lodge catering to visitors.
The mountain top has numerous activities for visitors including a lumberjack and predator bird shows but the main attraction is the grizzly bear area where you can get great up-close views of these awesome creatures.
There are lots of things to keep a family happily engaged for a few hours and numerous trails for the more adventurous.
The city, water and back country views from around the top are excellent and be prepared for all conditions with sunscreen, sunglasses and a warm fleece jacket.

We liked most everything. The bird show, the bears, the lifts, the paths, The Nachos if you like Nachos are great sitting out on the patio overlooking the inlet watching the hand gliders. Stay the day and do watch the Vancouver lights come on....magpie014
