We've now stayed at the Pinnacle in North Vancouver twice and both times have been great experiences. The first time we had a room on the City side - no view but the room itself was huge, really a suite. The weather was rainy so we didn't really care. This last time we had a room on the Burrard Inlet side and, though it was smaller, the view was worth it, as was having a balcony so we could open the door and enjoy the sounds of life outside the hotel, especially since we had wonderful weather. Looking forward to our next visit.

This hotel is right on the harbour so most rooms have excellent views across the water to downtown Vancouver. Added bonus was the proximity to Lonsdale quay market with its stalls of fresh produce (possibly only on Saturdays) and a variety of eating places for breakfast and lunch. Other stalls there sell jewellery, kitchenware, fresh juices, souvenirs, etc. Concerts and other festivities appear to be regular events probably throughout the summer. The Seabus ferries across to downtown Vancouver are close by within walking distance and run every 15 mins. Our room was excellent with a small balcony, free WiFi, amenities, etc. Restaurant had a good menu and it was very busy on both nights. From the bar, try their Caesars, yumee! Staff were exceptional, helpful, friendly, attentive to one's needs at all times. There is a spa and a pool, neither of which we tried. We'd stay there again.

Room Tip: If you like a view of the water and bright city lights, ask for a harbour room.

Needed to stay in a hotel for a few nights due to renovations in the home, and chose Pinnacle at the Pier as it supposedly was the best hotel on the North Shore. We got a room that faced the water and was on a higher floor.

It is absolutely not.

The walls are thin, quite a bit of noise comes from the gym, and the outside noise from volleyball courts across the street and amphitheatre make it louder than a university dorm room. Hotel staff were not motivated to cease the noise from the volleyball courts or quiet whatever was taking place in the gym (it sounded like heavy items being dropped repeatedly).

Considering the price for this hotel, this is not worth the money. I'd rank this, at best, a 3.5 star hotel. On the flip side, the food in the hotel restaurant is good.

Next time, I'll stay in downtown where it's (shockingly) much more quiet.

Thank you for the feedback and I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy completely your stay with us. Thank you for the nice comment on our food in the restaurant.
As to the noise over the weekend coming from the volleyball courts, there is not much our associates can do, we have no control over the area. These courts were just introduced this year by the North Shore Community to create a fun venue during the summer for all residents and people visiting our North shore to enjoy. They are not a permanent fixture here.
This weekend we also did have our 7th annual "Party at the Pier" an event celebrating our maritime community. That is why there was music coming from the amphitheatre, sorry about it.
During the summer month you would find many similar street and plaza activities throughout Vancouver downtown, so it is not always so qiuet as one would think.

I was very disappointed in my stay here. The pictures of the room that I was supposed to get was nothing like the room I got. It was still nice but not for the price I paid. I usually stay at cheaper places but I wanted to treat the girlfriend and I to someplace "nice". Turned out the cheaper hotels were a lot nicer than this one. 6 months in advance I requested an ocean view seeing how I haven't been to BC in 14 years. I was put on the opposite side facing buildings instead. The biggest disappointment was all the hidden taxes and charges along with $12 parking a night. My $338 standard room for 2 nights costed $419 in the end. I do not recommend this place to anyone unless you got money to throw away.

Thank you for your feedback and my apologies that the water view room was not available. As much as we try to accomodate every request, sometimes it is impossible.
The summer room rates in Vancouver tend to reflect the fact that our city is an extremely desirable destination during the summer months. Unfortunately Taxes is something we can not control and our parking rate is half the rate usually charged by major downtown hotels.
I hope you will give us another chance again in the future.

Thank you, Peter Frcek

This is a great location for anyone wanting excellent service, nice rooms and access to downtown Vancouver. There are many restaurants and businesses within walking distance (try the Sweet Art Bakery's oatmeal made with steamed milk - yum!) plus the quay marketplace. And you are literally walking distance from the seabus that takes you direct to the heart of downtown Vancouver. Our room was lovely, nicely appointed with modern touches, a small fridge, and a generous flat screen TV. The king bed was really comfy with quality linens and the pillows were perfect. The hotel has a wonderful lap pool and a hot tub, plus gym equipment, all with a view of the harbor. The weekend we stayed, there was interesting activity on the quay every day. And finally, although we don't have a pet, the hotel is dog friendly. Plenty of folks had their dogs but you'd never know the rooms had seen or heard an animal. Completely non-smoking, which we loved. And I have to say it again, the service was terrific!

Room Tip: Recommend the harborside rooms - a bit more money but so much quieter at night. Ask for 5th floor or...

My wife, two daughters (ages 7 & 10) and I stayed at Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier one night over the Memorial Day holiday. It was definitely a good experience, newly constructed hotel, well maintained, and in an interesting location. .

Finding the hotel / parking
We arrived at the hotel around 1PM after biking in Stanley Park for the morning. Directions to the hotel were easy to follow; the main thing to know is that the car park and lobby are on the water and not facing the main street. Parking was a breeze with lots of spaces. We had four bikes on the back of our SUV and were still able to park comfortably without issues.

Hotel first impression
The hotel is new, the lobby is nice and welcoming, and the immediate area is very interesting. Looks like this used to be an industrial, ship building/repairing area, but is now being redeveloped into hotels, restaurants, and condos. The front desk staff was friendly, and they allowed us to check in early. We booked a mountainside room with two double beds which worked out just fine for us. The view of the harbor would have been nice, but the view of the mountain and the street below was nice too!

Room
The rooms are well appointed and well maintained. We were on a higher floor (4th or 5th? Can’t quite recall), no street noise whatsoever. One thing to keep in mind is that the rooms on this side of the hotel face condos across the street, so you have to be aware and close the drapes or go to the bathroom if you want to change. The bathroom was very nice with lots of space, which is important with four people in the room.

Pool & spa
My kids swam at the pool and sat in the hot tub. It’s an exercise pool (Olympic sized, swim lanes), and luckily it wasn’t very busy at the time so they could play around in there without bothering people trying to have a workout. We learned that people living in the condos nearby can become a member, and they use the pool, weight room, and attend exercise classes. So the facilities are not only for hotel guests.

Surrounding area
As mentioned earlier, this is an area undergoing redevelopment, and there are a lot of interesting reminders of what used to be there. There is a huge dry dock right by the hotel along with cranes which was interesting to look at. There is a pier almost directly in front of the hotel lobby with amazing views of downtown Vancouver. We made our way over to the Lonsdale Quay which is a shopping area, but not very interesting to us. It was more of a tourist trap, nothing much to buy or see.

On the street side there is a Starbucks close by (it’s in a very interesting, historical building with the original door – pretty cool location), Tim Horton’s, and an IGA grocery store. Loved the fact there was a grocery store close by, we could buy snacks for the kids and load up on Canadian candy bars and ketchup potato chips!

Also close by is the Seabus which is a passenger only ferry that connects you to downtown. We did not have time to ride it, but it definitely would be the way to go if you wanted to head downtown.

The Lobby restaurant
We had dinner with friends here (to be covered in a separate review), but overall a very nice restaurant, good service, and great food at a reasonable price.

Bottom line
We enjoyed our stay at Pinnacle Hotel at the Pier and we will stay here again the next time we visit Vancouver.

The hotel is based in North Vancouver so a ferry ride away from the main tourist area. The hotel is quite large and has a nice chilled out café and restaurant on the ground floor.
The staff were friendly and efficient on check in and friendly through the stay.
The room was modern with all the usual comforts at a high spec. You get some great view of the city 100m walk ahead of the hotel (or from the harbor view rooms) and the ferry terminal is a few mins walk. The ferry journey is quick and frequent and a nice way to travel. There is a market with lots of restaurants very close by.
